What was Robert Hall's Conviction and Sentence for Emmett Corrigan's murder?

In 2012, Robert Hall was convicted of second-degree murder for killing Emmett Corrigan. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison with no possibility of parole. Fourth District Judge Micahel McLaughlin stated that he cannot ask for parole for 17 and a half years.

It was revealed during the trial that Emmett fought with his wife Ashlee who had just given birth to their fifth baby and left his home to meet Kandi in the Walgreens pharmacy. Kandi and Emmett then met near the pharmacy and they drove in Emmett's truck to share an intimate moment. This is when Kandi receives a call from her daughter that Robert has left the house and is searching for her.

When they arrived at Walgreens pharmacy, Robert and Emmett met up in the parking lot. They had a heated argument when Robert shot Emmett in a fit of rage and killed him. When Kandi heard the gunshots she saw her husband bleeding while Emmett was dead.

Even though Robert Hall tried to claim it was a mistake, the prosecutors didn't believe it was self-defense. With further investigation and Kandi's statements, it was revealed that Robert fired two shots at Emmett and tried to take his own life with the third bullet which missed his skull. Robert Hall was found guilty and at present, he is currently serving prison time at Idaho State Correctional Institution in Kuna, Ada County.
