AMC's highly acclaimed post-apocalyptic drama Daryl Dixon has returned for the second season. The third episode, L'Invisible came out on October 13, 2024, and revealed how the world looked just before the zombie outbreak.

It opens with flashbacks from the pre-apocalyptic world, uncovering Marion Genet's (Anne Charrier) past life. It was a normal day with people admiring the iconic Mona Lisa painting at the Louvre Museum in France, and suddenly everyone's phone started ringing. Initially, it was believed to be a false bomb threat, but it wasn't.

It turned out to be a deadly zombie outbreak with people losing their loved ones. Similarly, Genet was looking for her husband during the outbreak but security prevented her from meeting him. Her world turned upside down when Genet saw her husband being eaten up by the Walkers.

Her tragic past contributed to Genet becoming a cold, powerful leader, who believes she has figured out the meaning behind the Mona Lisa smile. As she looks at the painting, Carol (Melissa McBride) joins Genet and claims that the smile looks sad.

As the episode progresses, Carol and Rémy, who claim to be American tourists stuck in France are given their tasks. Little did Carol know that she would discover the horrific truth about Genet's experiments that transform humans into powerful zombies or burners. Read on to explore what happened next and how Carol might be a victim of Genet's deadly experiment.

The third episode of Daryl Dixon continues with Carol sent to work in the kitchen and Rémy to the stables. The two later notice chained prisoners being taken into a tunnel which leads them to the workshop of Dr. Lafleur. What's even more startling is that they were shot and injected with a yellow-green liquid, possibly the serum that transforms humans into enhanced zombies.

Carol and Rémy overhear Dr. Lafleur asking the scientists to keep an eye on the prisoners and note the changes. Upon watching the experiment, Rémy mentioned rumors and suggested that the dangerous walkers called brûlant emerged from this experiment, and it could be Genet's plan to control the zombies.

However, the experiment went wrong, and two infected prisoners transformed into deadly zombies. After witnessing the horrifying scene, Carol and Rémy decided to continue their search for Daryl Dixon and prevent him from being a subject of Genet's experiment.

Meanwhile, Sylvie (Laïka Blanc-Francard) tried to escape Nest at Mont-Saint-Michel, Normandy but failed. She then warned everyone about Losang (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi) killing Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), but nobody seemed to have believed Sylvie. He had manipulated people and claimed that the boy was immune and gained everyone's trust.

Sylvie meets a tragic end in Daryl Dixon Season 2 episode 3, as she falls off a balcony while trying to escape from the soldiers. Following her death, Losang balmed Sylvie, claiming she didn't have enough faith.

Meanwhile, Fallou, Daryl, and Isabelle got inside the nest and Losang drugged Laurent and was set for a speech at the ceremony. He then brought zombified Sylvie in front of everyone, explaining that Laurent's immunity would be tested on her. But before that happened, Daryl had already killed Sylvie.

Daryl Dixon along with Laurent, Isabelle, and Fallou planned to escape the Nest, but the soldiers made it hard for them. Daryl then asked Laurent to lead the way for Isabelle and Fallou while he faced off against the soldiers.

However, Laurent was still struggling with the drug Losang gave him, and as a result, Isabelle got caught. Despite battling the soldiers, Daryl Dixon also ended up getting captured and had no choice but to surrender.

While Daryl and Isabelle were captured by the soldiers, Carol was carrying out her mission to find Daryl Dixon. She helped the cooks in the kitchen and kept asking about Daryl. However, nobody knew anything about him until Carol approached Codron, who was missing fingers and had swollen eyes.

His appearance highlighted Genet's constant torture, and Carol hoped for an answer from him. However, Codron didn't cooperate until Carol lied that Daryl Dixon was her brother. He then told Carol that Daryl was at the Nest, and she must find him before Genet does.

Carol then told Rémy about her plan and asked him to accompany her to the Nest. Carol ended up getting betrayed as Rémy sold her to Genet to save his husband. Following the betrayal, Carol tried to escape but the soldiers did not let her go and instead threatened to kill her.

As the episode reached its end, Genet gave Carol an ultimatum. She could either submit to her experiment that would turn Carol into a super zombie, or reveal the truth she had been hiding so far. Genet aimed to bring peace to the world through her experiments, to which Carol sarcastically replied saying, "The war to end all wars. I've heard that one before."

Despite being in a deadly situation, Carol continued to lie. This led them to form an alliance and prepare to attack Nest. Now that the two joined forces, Genet might not think of experimenting on Carol (at least for now). The episode ended with Isabella and Daryl changing together and hinting at a deeper bond in the upcoming episode.

The episode is already garnering positive reviews on X and has fans speculating about the possible course of events in the upcoming episodes. Writer Lisa Zwerling has been praised for the material, especially the scenes between Genet and Carol.
