MCU’s Daredevil: Born Again has brought back one of its most popular superheroes after 7 years. The series released the first two episodes on March 4, 2025.
Other than bringing back Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/ Daredevil and Vincent O’Donofrio’s Wilson Fisk/ Kingpin, the show also brought an iconic Marvel comics superhero, the White Tiger/ Hector Ayala, played by the late actor Kamar de los Reyes.
Reyes’s character, Hector, gets his powers from an ancient artifact, a jade tiger amulet. When worn, the amulet gives Hector superhuman strength, agility, and other significant powers that help him fight injustice in the city of New York.
Cox’s Murdock meets Reyes’s Hector in Episode 2 of Daredevil: Born Again when he agrees to defend Hector’s case and discovers he is the White Tiger.

What are the White Tiger's superpowers?
According to the Marvel comics, the White Tiger gets his powers from three jade tiger amulets depicting the head and claws of the tiger. However, in the Daredevil: Born Again series, there is only one amulet shown. The jade tiger amulet originated from the hidden city of K’un-Lun that the Iron Fist protects.
The jade tiger amulet gives Hector Ayala a unique mastery in unarmed combat, even though Ayala never trained in martial arts.
Additionally, it also gave him superhuman abilities such as agility, superhuman strength, endurance, and speed. Other than that, the amulet is also helpful in healing severe injuries like broken bones and wounds.
Furthermore, the amulet also gives Ayala abilities like night vision similar to tigers.
In Daredevil: Born Again, Hector is seen wearing only one amulet and a homemade costume; therefore, how much of these strengths and abilities will be shown in the show will only be clear in future episodes. In episode 2, Hector tells Cox’s Matt Murdock that he wasn’t wearing his amulet while fighting the undercover police officers, so the viewers didn’t get a glimpse of his powers.
Although we don’t know how much of the White Tiger’s powers will be shown in the series, by keeping the amulet in the show, Marvel has kept the mystical, supernatural connection of the amulet to its ancient deity.
More about Daredevil: Born Again
Hector Alaya, aka White Tiger, is portrayed by the late actor Kamar de los Reyes, who passed away in 2023 due to cancer. He was also known for appearing in shows like All American and The Rookie.
Episode 2 of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 paid a heartfelt tribute to the actor.
Other than Cox, O’Donofrio, and Reyes, Deborah Ann Woll, Wilson Bethel, Margarita Levieva, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, and Jon Bernthal will also appear in the Disney+ show.
