Daredevil: Born Again showrunners were influenced by Loki Season 2 and here's how

Promotions for Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 are in full swing. If what we have heard about the first two episodes of the series is any indication, then fans of the show are in for a huge treat. The cast and crew of Born Again are promoting the Disney+ series through interviews. One such interview was with the director duo— Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson.

Benson and Moorhead sat down for an interview with ScreenRant reporter Liam Crowley. In that interview, the director duo, who worked on the second season of Loki and Moon Knight, revealed that working on those two series served as an influence on Daredevil: Born Again. They said Loki Season 2 influenced Born Again from a storyline and filmmaking perspective.

How did the director duo's work on Loki Season 2 influence Daredevil: Born Again?

Furthermore, they revealed to Liam Crowley that their experience on the Moon Knight and Loki Season 2 helped them while making Daredevil: Born Again. Before that, the duo spoke about their work on the previous two MCU projects. Moorhead was particularly appreciative of Mohammed Diab, the director of Moon Knight, from whom they learned a lot about visual elements like runes.

They used what they learned from Diab and applied it while working on Loki Season 2. Moorhead said about the 2023 show's influence on Born Again:

"With that one, we actually stole a little bit of an idea from Loki season 2 and applied it to Daredevil. [The] one thing we talked about with Tom was that Loki knows his fate, the God of Time. Technically, some piece of him knows where he's going to end up at the very end of the season. That's why he has such a tragic performance, and we took this idea of what if you know what's going to happen?"

He also revealed that they took this idea from Loki and implemented it while filming Daredevil: Born Again:

"That idea applied to our one-take-fight scene and beyond - what if the camera already knows what's going to happen? That's why it's just moving at its own weird little pace. It's a bit dispassionate, a bit removed, a bit like an angel or a demon. We always pull one thing into the next, into the next."

He also said this about Matt Murdock:

"We have a character with [a] crisis of faith and somebody who's a famously Catholic superhero and somebody who believes he's no longer worthy of God's grace because of the shocking event that I won't spoil in episode one. [laughs]"

Apart from that, it was confirmed that the two are directing some episodes of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. However, they also expressed interest in doing a Moon Knight Season 2.

What did Benson and Moorhead say about Moon Knight Season 2?

The Daredevil: Born Again directors also spoke about the possibility of Moon Knight Season 2. Despite Brad Winderbaum's recent comments, Moorhead said that they would love to return to Marc Spector and Steven Grant and that he would love to work with Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke, even if the latter's character is dead in the finale.

While this may give some fans hope, it is best to take it as a wish rather than anything else.
