Daredevil: Born Again trudges on through its debut season on Disney+. While the show is committed to establishing the revamped world of Matt Murdock, the latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again saw the blind vigilante involved up to the neck in a burgeoning bank robbery wherein the robbers were after an elusive and mysterious orange stone.
The stone could turn out to be the Soul Stone i.e., one of the, if not the most powerful, among the Infinity Stones. While the abilities of the Soul Stone are immense and all-pervading, it can be speculated that the stone would do well to bring back the beloved character of Foggy Nelson back to the show after he was killed off.
Here's everything that we know.
What happened with the Soul Stone on Daredevil: Born Again? Speculations explored
At the center of Daredevil: Born Again's latest episode was a bank robbery brought into effect by Irish mobsters who thought it befitting to mark the occasion of Saint Patrick's Day. The robbery takes place in a New York bank where the only employee on duty is the elderly Yusuf Khan. As the bank robbers lead him to find their way into the bank's vault, it is revealed that they're not after all the cash that awaits them but rather a mysterious stone that strangely emits an orange glow.
The said stone is encased in a safety deposit box and is eventually rescued from being stolen after Matt Murdock arrives on the scene. However, this storyline has since then given rise to numerous questions and speculation, the most pervasive being related to the nature of the stone and its potential repercussions.
If the gemstone is indeed the famed Soul Stone, which was acquired by Thanos after sacrificing Gamora at Vormir, it could potentially restore souls from the multiverse. This could mean that if Murdock is able to wield the powers of the stone, he could bring back Foggy Nelson, who has been confirmed to return in the second season of the Disney+ show anyway.
Regardless, it does seem a bit far-fetched that an otherwise street-level show like Daredevil: Born Again would make use of something so epic as the Soul Stone.
Daredevil: Born Again executive producer opens up about Foggy Nelson's death
In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, executive producer Dario Scardapane revealed that the death of Foggy Nelson was initially supposed to happen off-screen rather than in the first episode of the Disney+ show:
"It was an inevitability! Truth be told...In the original version, before I came in, he had died, but it was off-screen, and for me, it couldn't be off-screen. You had to feel it and that's why that statement happened literally. It's like (if) you're going to kill off Foggy, it has to be the three of them (who) come back. That loss has to be felt, and that loss has to be an earthquake. That shatters Matt, (it) makes him put away the mask, (it) has a ripple effect."
