Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 has dropped, and this episode truly delivered some shocking moments. There were instances that completely caught us off guard. One particularly surprising moment was the walk between Vanessa and Fisk. As they stroll, Fisk reveals that his Red Hook project is moving forward. Then, he takes her somewhere else. Next, we find Fisk leading her inside, where Vanessa comes face-to-face with Adam for the first time on screen.

What follows is one of the strangest moments in the episode, and yes, we have a few theories. So, let's delve into what that moment could actually mean.

After the moment when Vanessa comes face-to-face with Adam, we're thrown into a spiral of flashbacks and questions. During a therapy session with Dr. Heather Glenn, Vanessa, who was heartbroken and vulnerable, confessed that she hadn't even had a chance to say goodbye to him. She had no idea where Adam was. Fisk mentioned that he had only conversed with Adam and told him how much he loves Vanessa. It was later revealed that Adam had been held captive by Fisk- not just hidden away, but also beaten.

But why is Fisk showing Adam to Vanessa now? Is this all part of some twisted strategy?

Here's what we're thinking about this moment in Episode 8 of Daredevil: Born Again. If Fisk knows or even suspects that it was Vanessa who ordered Luca to kill him, then this could be his way of sending a message. It might be a power move or a reminder of his capabilities.

He may just be flexing his ruthlessness right in front of her, showing her that he knows her secret and still holds all the cards. Alternatively, this could be Fisk trying to be honest and transparent.

Perhaps he's attempting to regain her trust; after all, she plotted against him, and he knows he's lost her faith. Maybe this is his twisted way of rebuilding it by finally telling her the truth in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8.

We see Fisk clearly exhausted by Adam's cries in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8. He loses control and yells,

“Shut up!”

Then he turns to Vanessa and says:

“I hear his voice. I see his hands. It's unbearable.”

During an earlier therapy session with Dr. Heather Glenn, Vanessa revealed that it was Adam's hands she admired most because he was an artist. Therefore, Fisk naturally despises his hands the most.

Vanessa demands to know why he kept Adam from her. Fisk responds:

“I am better than I was. I am. And if I cannot be with you, Vanessa, I cannot be.”

And then... the shocker. Vanessa pulls out a gun and shoots Adam in the head.

One reason Vanessa might have shot Adam is fear. She realizes the Kingpin isn't gone; in fact, he's back and more unhinged than ever. She understands there's no beating him- no winning against him.

So perhaps she makes a choice. If she can't win the game, she'll play to survive. Aligning with Fisk might be the only way to stay alive. In that moment, Adam becomes a liability, leading her to pull the trigger in this episode.

Another possibility? Mercy. Adam had been tortured and kept in the dark, broken down emotionally and physically. Maybe Vanessa saw no way to truly save him, believing this was the only way to end his suffering, especially after realizing she cannot protect him.

This episode flipped everything, and if this is where we're at now, we honestly can't imagine where it's all heading next.
