The penultimate episode of Daredevil: Born Again finally revealed the most anticipated question of the season, i.e., why Bullseye killed Foggy Nelson.

At the end of the high-octane episode, Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock finally figures out that it was Vanessa Fisk (Ayelet Zurer) who instructed Bullseye to kill Foggy in the premiere episode of Daredevil: Born Again.

However, he could not know the reason why Vanessa ordered him to kill Foggy and his client, Benny, as Bullseye escaped prison and tried to shoot Wilson.

More on this in our story.

Daredevil: Born Again episode 8- Why did Bullseye kill Foggy Nelson? Details explored

Episode 8 of the Marvel show, titled Isle of Joy, finally addressed one of the most important questions of season 1.

In the premiere episode of the series, Poindexter/Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) killed Foggy and his client, Benny, as well as some other bystanders outside Josie’s, and was imprisoned for the crime, which was initially thought of as a murder rampage, devoid of any particular motive.

However, after a year, Matt goes to Josie’s for a drink, and she pours him a shot of O’Melveny, which Foggy had apparently been having the day he died. Matt protested, saying that might not be true. But Josie was sure Foggy ordered O’Melveny, which prompted Matt into believing that Foggy’s death might not have been just an accident as he only drinks O’Melveny when he wins a case. This meant that Foggy was sure of winning Benny’s case, which is linked with the Red Hook port project of the Fisks.

Matt then goes on to meet Bullseye in prison to ask him who ordered him to kill Foggy, but the assassin does not answer even after Matt directly asks him if it was Wilson Fisk. Bullseye asks him to get him out of prison in exchange for knowing who asked him to kill Foggy, which results in Matt hitting Bullseye’s head on the table in anger.

He then joins Heather in the Fisks’ Black and White Ball for their Red Hook Port Revitalization Project. At the ball, he tries to confront Wilson, but Vanessa reaches him first, and they begin their first dance. While dancing, Vanessa tells Wilson she needs to tell him something important. Matt picks up on her quickened heartbeat and realises it was not Wilson but Vanessa who ordered Foggy’s murder.

He then confronts Vanessa, where she confirms she is behind Foggy’s death and that she also knows that he is the Daredevil. However, before finding out the reason why she would do that, Bullseye breaks into the ball and aims at Wilson. To save him, Matt puts himself in front of him, resulting in him being shot at rather than Fisk.

Daredevil: Born Again episode 8- Why did Vanessa order Foggy’s death? Speculations explored

Although the episode ends on a cliffhanger and we don’t find out the reason, it might be due to Foggy’s client, Benny’s links with the Fisks' Red Hook port project.

Since Foggy was having his winning drink that day before the case hearing, he might be sure of winning the case, which might have impacted the Fisks. Therefore, to save their activities from being hampered, Vanessa, who handled all their criminal activities while Wilson was in prison, might have ordered Bullseye to kill Benny and Foggy.

However, the actual reason might be revealed in the finale of Daredevil: Born Again, which is sure to be an explosive one, with Bullseye out of prison and Matt being shot by him.
