Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 finally shifted the spotlight back on Benjamin Poindexter, a.k.a. Bullseye. The episode reminds us just how dangerous this man is and how calculated Fisk can be when he wants someone gone.

Fisk gets Bullseye transferred to GenPop (general population), just like he once did with Frank Castle. And we all know it is basically a death sentence. But Bullseye’s not going down without a fight.

Poindexter requests a meeting with Matt, who eventually shows up. He is hoping to get the truth. Matt knows Bullseye was hired to kill Foggy. He’s here to find out who hired him.

But Bullseye says he’ll only talk if Matt gets him out. Matt, of course, refuses, but then Bullseye says:

"In another life, you might’ve defended me. That’s what good men do, right? Defend even their worst enemies."

Matt then slams Poindexter’s head into the table in a fit of rage, and he gets taken for medical attention.

Poindexter holds onto one of his teeth and shoots it into the eye of the guard who was putting him back in chains, incapacitating him and leaving room for an escape.

Meanwhile, Fisk and Vanessa are hosting the fancy black-and-white ball in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8. Swordsman shows up. Heather Glenn is already there, and Matt Murdock walks in too. He tunes into Fisk and Vanessa’s conversation and realizes Vanessa is the one who hired Bullseye.

Just then he hears the click of a gun being cocked. He looks up. It's Bullseye aiming straight at Fisk. Matt dives in front of Fisk without a second thought. He takes a bullet for his worst enemy in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8.

Daredevil: Born Again—Why did Matt Murdock take a bullet for Fisk?

Let’s break down what’s probably the biggest question fans have after Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 now that we’ve picked our jaws up from the floor. Why on earth did Matt Murdock take a bullet for Wilson Fisk? And why was Bullseye trying to kill Fisk in the first place?

Let’s start with Bullseye. There are two very plausible motives for why he would want Fisk dead.

Bullseye was just thrown into GenPop. That's a move that almost guarantees death for high-risk inmates like him. And it was Fisk who put him there. Remember what he did with The Punisher in Netflixs's Daredevil series? The Punisher made it out with blood on his hands.

Fisk tried to play the same game with Bullseye, but it backfired. So the first and most immediate reason is revenge for setting him up to die.

And let’s not forget history. In Netflix’s Daredevil Season 3, it was Fisk who killed Bullseye’s love interest. That kind of betrayal doesn’t just vanish. Especially not with someone like Poindexter. It’s personal.

So combine the betrayal of the past with the backstabbing of the present, and it makes total sense why Bullseye would show up at the black-and-white ball with only one name on his hit list: Wilson Fisk.

Now coming to Matt Murdock jumping in and taking the bullet in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8. Matt knows it wasn’t Fisk who ordered Foggy’s death. It was Vanessa. Justice matters more than revenge for someone like Daredevil.

And that’s not all. Matt has had his chances to kill Fisk in the past. But he never did. Because Matt doesn’t kill, even if it’s Kingpin. He believes in the system. Even if it fails. Even if it’s rigged. He still has hope in justice. Taking the law into his own hands is just not his style.

Also, another angle would be that this entire moment of Matt taking the bullet could’ve been his own personal redemption arc. He’s constantly questioning whether he’s a hero or a monster.

And in that moment, he probably chose to be the good man.

So Daredevil: Born Again Episode 8 left us hanging on a cliffhanger yet again. And we're definitely not okay. We need Episode 9 now!
