Disclaimer: Spoilers ahead for Daredevil: Born Again Episode 3.

Episode 3 of Daredevil: Born Again had a big surprise at the end: White Tiger, or Hector Ayala, got shot. This got people talking about it a lot. We don't know for sure if it was Frank Castle, the Punisher, or someone copying him. The show keeps us guessing.

Hector was found not guilty of killing someone in court just before he was shot. He talked about his favorite beaches in Puerto Rico before it happened, and the show played sounds of frogs and waves at the end.

The person who shot him was wearing a vest with a skull, like the Punisher's, but we're not told if it's actually the Punisher or a cop.

The show has shown that some New York cops like what the Punisher does, so it could be one of them. This keeps us guessing about who did it and what's going to happen next in the Daredevil: Born Again series.

Was the Punisher behind White Tiger’s death?

Although Daredevil: Born Again clearly shows the Punisher's emblem, it doesn't directly confirm that Frank Castle was involved in White Tiger's murder. Some crooked cops look up to Castle and even tattoo his emblem on themselves, which suggests a rogue officer might copy his violent style.

Frank Castle usually targets crooks and corrupt officials, not vigilantes like White Tiger who fight for justice, even if they face legal issues. So, if Castle killed White Tiger, it would be a change in his moral views. This confusion seems to be on purpose.

Some fans also think that White Tiger's death could be part of the Kingpin's plan. Since vigilantes mess with his business, he'd want to get rid of them. This might be a scary move by Fisk's people using the Punisher's image to control the city's bad guys more.

So, it's not clear if the Punisher killed White Tiger. It could be a copycat, or part of the Kingpin's strategy. The story leaves it open for us to decide based on our own view of the Punisher.

What does White Tiger’s death mean for Daredevil: Born Again?

The tragic loss of Hector Ayala in Daredevil: Born Again might not be the end for the White Tiger. In the comics, Hector's legacy lives on through his relatives. His niece, Angela Del Toro, and sister, Ava Ayala, both become the White Tiger. It's curious that no one brings up Angela Del Toro, which hints that the show could be setting up for another White Tiger to appear.

Moreover, Hector's death impacts Matt Murdock's path. Whenever he makes progress, something dark tries to draw him back in.

With the weight of Hector's death on his shoulders, Matt may feel pushed to don the Daredevil suit once more. The possibility that the Punisher, or someone impersonating him, was behind the murder could lead to an intense showdown between Matt and Frank Castle. Their past meetings have always shown their differing moral views, making this a very intriguing plot twist for the series.

Regardless of the Punisher's involvement, Daredevil: Born Again Episode 3 has set the scene for a clash that could change the face of Marvel shows.
