After long years of wait and anticipation, Daredevil: Born Again finally hit the small screens on March 4, 2025, with its first two episodes. The show follows a weekly schedule and new episodes drop every Tuesday.
Till now four episodes have been released and as per data by Luminate, the show has gained one of the highest opening viewerships among current MCU shows securing 7.5 million views in five days, making it the first R-rated show of MCU to see such success.
The official synopsis of Daredevil: Born Again mentions,
“Matt Murdock finds himself on a collision course with Wilson Fisk when their past identities begin to emerge.”
Daredevil: Born Again had gone through a major creative shift when the filming was almost half done. This caused some delay in the release. Talking about the same, Charlie Cox mentioned in an interview with SFX,
“There was a U-turn after the strike, where [they] were headed in one direction, which was interesting and valid. If we’re coming back after all these years, we don’t want to just do exactly the same thing. Marvel looked at the episodes and knew it wasn’t quite working.”
He further mentioned that the production team then,
"shot a whole new pilot, and they reorganized what [they] had filmed to make it feel more like the show [they] had shot all those years previously.”
All these efforts seem to have paid off well as fans have been going crazy since the release of the series and the viewership numbers are a testament to that.
Besides Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio also comes back as Wilson Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again and the show also features The Punisher, which is another factor in increasing the viewership numbers.
The coming together of so many old and familiar faces along with a gripping and intense plot has made Daredevil: Born Again the first R-rated show of Marvel to see such a response.
Daredevil: Born Again garnered 7.5 million views in its first five days
After Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Disney+ with its first two episodes, the streamer announced that it was the most-viewed Disney+ series debut in 2025 with a whopping 7.5 million views in five days, as reported by Variety.
However, despite such a good opening, Daredevil: Born Again comes second to Agatha All Along, a show with lesser anticipation around it. Agatha All Along has generated 9.3 million views as was announced by Disney after the show’s release.
Nevertheless, it is important to keep in mind that Daredevil: Born Again is an R-rated show. Moreover, it can be considered as the fourth installment of the original Daredevil, which was on Netflix. This means that Daredevil: Born Again requires some previous knowledge of the original show for better understanding.
Despite these obstacles, Daredevil: Born Again has managed to top the viewership charts. Moreover, as revealed by Luminate data, when compared to other live-action shows of the MCU in this phase, Daredevil: Born Again has more minutes of streaming than many others.
Daredevil: Born Again can be streamed on Disney+.
