The much-awaited Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again will be released on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, bringing back fan-favorite characters and introducing new ones. The trailer of the series gives a darker tone and confirms several villains that Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, has to face. The list of villains ranges from classic foes like Kingpin and Bullseye to new threats like the sinister Muse.
The Daredevil series remains a part of the Netflix legacy as Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock battles with powerful enemies. More specifically, with the return of Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, the stakes are higher and thicker than before.
New characters like Muse bring fresh intrigue into the plot. From the teaser, Daredevil will also be fighting bank robbers and street-level criminals, proving how he will fight to protect New York City relentlessly.
Kingpin and Bullseye return in Daredevil: Born Again
One major role that would be played by Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk, otherwise known as Kingpin. Fisk is depicted as the new powerful mayor of New York City in the trailer. It seems as if this may take inspiration from the Devil's Reign comics as he makes laws to stop anti-vigilantes and uses them against people like Daredevil.
Another returning character is Benjamin "Dex" Poindexter, who has previously appeared as Bullseye in the Daredevil series. The trailer reveals Bullseye to be in prison, implying that he was just caught; perhaps by Daredevil himself. Set photos depict his enhanced costume; hence, his involvement in the series will not be limited to jail time.
Muse: The chilling new threat in Daredevil: Born Again
Another interesting villain who is about to feature in the new series is Muse, a serial killer as well as a great artist. This villain wasn't in the previous Netflix version; thus, Muse's arrival brings something fresh to Daredevil's rogues.
Based on the trailer and set photos, Muse's sinister approach to art is through the transformation of the corpses and blood of his victims into some of the most horrifying masterpieces.
This gory method establishes Muse as a uniquely disturbing foe. Marvel has not officially confirmed who will play Muse, but there are rumors that Hunter Doohan might be taking on the role. The involvement of Muse suggests a darker and more psychological storyline for Daredevil: Born Again.
The Punisher and other street-level threats in Daredevil: Born Again
Jon Bernthal reprises his role as Frank Castle, also known as the Punisher, in Daredevil: Born Again. Although the Punisher is a character who often walks the fine line between hero and villain, the trailer shows him in a violent confrontation with Daredevil. But the footage also suggests that Castle may have a larger purpose and could ultimately help Daredevil in his mission.
The trailer features battles with other street-level crime fighters; at one point, Daredevil has a showdown against some masked robbers holding guns at his head, and he battles it out brutally with an outfit of street punks. Daredevil simply is not someone to be cowered by anyone of any size who is a threat to the city.
The trailer for Daredevil: Born Again teases a thrilling blend of returning favorites and chilling new villains. Kingpin’s rise to political power, Bullseye’s return, and the introduction of Muse promise high-stakes confrontations for Matt Murdock. The inclusion of the Punisher and street-level criminals adds layers to the story, highlighting Daredevil’s dual roles as both a lawyer and a vigilante.
With the series premiere soon, this show promises great action and strong moral dilemmas in which Daredevil faces some of his greatest battles. Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again has been promised to bring a wonderful continuation of the hero's journey on Disney+.
