Daredevil: Born Again has been one of the most anticipated shows of the year, and it is safe to say that it was worth the wait. The Disney+ show just dropped Episode 3 and it is surely keeping us on the edge our seats.

The show has increasingly made itself clear; this time it is going to be vigilantes vs. the bad cops. Fisk as the new Mayor based his entire campaign on ridding the streets of vigilantes and he is going to make sure there is a major threat against them. We see a glimpse of that in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 3.

Last, we were left hanging at the apartment of Nicky Torres where Matt was forced to fight the cops when they were about to shoot him. This episode follows the events after that. It's mostly a courtroom episode where we see Matt desperately try to prove White Tiger's innocence. It's also his way of holding onto the belief that the system hasn’t completely fallen apart.

Let's look at the major events of this episode.

Daredevil: Born Again - Fisk and Vanessa in Episode 3

Episode 3 of Daredevil: Born Again begins with a hijacking near the Red Hook Port that ends in bloodshed. There are two homicides and it doesn't give a very good look of Fisk handling things as the new Mayor. So, naturally he gives necessary instructions to Sheila.

Meanwhile, Vanessa is trying to instigate Fisk. She tells him that someone needs to keep them in check and here, she subtly mentions that she could do it for him, too. She believes it might be a bigger problem if not handled right away as they might all turn against each other and then finally turn against Fisk. She says:

"They're misbehaving because there's no one at the head of the table. Without you or me there, they'll turn on each other."

However, Fisk doesn't really care about the "rats at the bottom of the barrel" and he'd rather they "kill each other." He says:

"That world, that kind of violence, petty blood feuds... None of it is our concern."

However, Vanessa is not one to sit with her hands tied. We see Buck meeting the hijackers from the previous night and settling it between them. But what stands out the most here is when Luca calls Buck "mayor's errand boy," to which he simply replies with:

"I don't work for the mayor. I work for the man. "

Now this could either mean the duality of Fisk as a mayor and a Kingpin or Vanessa being the "man" who gives out orders. Soon we come to know that it is infact, Vanessa, who had sent Buck to sort things out between Luca and Viktor.

When Fisk confronts her about this, he tells her that he understands that she wants to maintain peace but, he adds:

"Sometimes, peace needs to be broken, and chaos must reign just for a moment, to build a stronger order."

But Vanessa feels Fisk has not forgiven her for what she did with Adam.

A major chunk of Daredevil: Born Again Episode 3 is in the courtroom. Matt is desperately trying to prove Hector Ayala is innocent. His entire case now relies on Nicky Torres' witness testimony. Cherry goes to the safehouse where Torres is.

In the courtroom, Matt builds his argument, asking Officer Powell the crucial questions - whether Nicky Torres was actually their informant and if he and his partner were really alone at the station that night.

Nicky Torres, meanwhile, is being brought to the court. However Officer Powell gets to Cherry on the way. Luckily, they had already anticipated that and planned it all ahead. Nicky Torres safely reaches the court but, to no avail.

Just when we think that Matt will finally win the case, Torres flips. His entire case is now looking bleak. A desperate Matt has only one option now. Though he didn't want to take that route before, he is left with nothing but revealing Hector's vigilante identity, White Tiger, to the courtroom. Sighs and murmurs fill the room.

What follows is a number of testimonies by citizens who were previously helped by White Tiger. Matt then gives his closing statement to the jury. He argues that a man willing to risk his life to protect others couldn’t have murdered a cop. That too without his mask and amulet.

The prosecution counters with a simple argument: sometimes, even good people do bad things. So who’s to say Hector never crossed that line?

When the verdict is finally out, we see a happy Hector aka White Tiger walk out the court free. But that smile wouldn't last long. He'd be killed that very night by a man donning a Punisher-logoed outfit. All while Fisk's monologue about vigilantes being cowards hiding behind masks plays in the background.

Daredevil: Born Again Episode 3 cleverly sets the stage for what’s to come. We see Matt holding the broken horn from his Daredevil helmet which is a clear sign that his alter ego is inching back into the light.

Meanwhile, in Daredevil: Born Again Episode 3, Fisk’s war against vigilantes gets real as Hector aka White Tiger meets his tragic fate. With the ominous presence of the Punisher’s symbol growing even stronger, the war in Hell’s Kitchen is just beginning.
