Following the 1999 cult classic Cruel Intentions, Prime Video released the new eight-part series with the same name on November 21, 2024. The TV series brings a bold and seductive reimagining of the film while staying true to the dark and scandalous essence of the story.
Cruel Intentions 2024 stars Savannah Lee Smith, Brooke Lena Johnson, Sarah Catherine Hook, and Zac Burgess in key roles, nearly twenty-five years after Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Reese Witherspoon made the 1999 film a huge success. The TV series focuses on the complex relations of the characters and how they can cross limits to fulfill their wishes.
Set in an elite Washington, DC college, Cruel Intentions 2024 centers around two ruthless step-siblings: Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Belmont (Zac Burgess) who can do anything to remain top figures in the cutthroat social hierarchy. Cruel Intentions 2024 Season 1 ending explained: Annie's Pledge to Delta Phi
It all started with a manipulative bet between the step-siblings: Caroline and Lucien that drove the entire plot of the TV series. Lucien bets if he can seduce Annie into pledging to Delta Phi, he will get to spend an hour with Caroline according to his wish. However, if he fails, Caroline will get his stunning car.
Little did Lucien know that he'd fall for Annie which would ultimately lead him to call off the bet. This unexpected change enraged Caroline, and she began exposing the dark secrets of Lucien to spoil his reputation and get the Vice President's daughter into Delta Phi.
By the end of Cruel Intentions 2024 Season 1, Caroline succeeded in manipulating Annie and led her to pledge to Delta Phi. Caroline celebrated Annie's decision not because she respected her, but because the vice president's daughter brought a notable spotlight to her exclusive sorority.
Annie was intrigued by the promises of sisterhood and belonging, but she gradually began to uncover disturbing truths about Caroline. CeCe navigated a heartbreaking storyline in Cruel Intentions 2024 Season 1
CeCe Carroway's journey in Season 1 is filled with betrayal and manipulation, all thanks to Caroline’s secret interference. As the story began, CeCe developed feelings for her professor Hank Chadwick, who reciprocated her feelings. What made their connection intriguing was a mutual attraction and the decision to wait until CeCe graduates in order to avoid any distractions.
Both, Hank and CeCe were excited about their future together, but their story took a dark turn when Caroline learned about their feelings. Caroline began poisoning CeCe’s view on men, manipulating her that all men are untrustworthy. At the same time, she also started seducing Hank to shift his focus from CeCe.
Not only this, but Caroline also anonymously framed sexual abuse allegations against Hank in order to destroy his relationship with CeCe. As a result, CeCe was heartbroken thinking that Hank might have a dark past (which he clearly didn't).
All Caroline wanted was CeCe's devotion to the sisterhood and nothing else, and she successfully manipulated CeCe for the same. However, when CeCe talked to Annie at the end of Cruel Intentions Season 1 and mentioned her suspicions, CeCe too began doubting Caroline.

Lucien Belmont settled the score with Caroline in Cruel Intentions Season 1 finale
Caroline might have succeeded in manipulating everyone, but she couldn't escape her step-brother Lucien's revenge plan. Since the beginning of the show, viewers have seen Caroline's trying to repair her strained relationship with her mother. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't do anything in order to please her mother and that in turn, caused Caroline to become bitter and super manipulative.
On the other hand, Lucien shared a great relationship with his stepmother, and after discovering Caroline's betrayal, he used his stepmother as a weapon against her. Lucien influenced Caroline's mother and followed it by initiating a taboo se*ual relationship with her.
Not only this, he crossed all lines when he even recorded their video in the act and shared it with Caroline, knowing it would affect her in unimaginable ways. Though this might seem less ruthless to many, for Caroline, it significantly contributed to her emotional turmoil and eventual breakdown. Lucine was happy at the end of the series as he managed to pay back his stepsister for everything she had done so far, in ways she could have never imagined.
With such an ending to Cruel Intentions Season 1, fans will be expecting a quick announcement on whether they will get to see what happens next when Season 2 gets an official release.
