Matthew Gray Gubler directed Elliott's Pond aired in 2016 and has raised a lot of questions among the fans over the years. The episode portrays three siblings from Delaware as they were roaming and playing near a pond in the woods, riding their bicycles. Through a course of events they end up in a cornfield where they fall prey to a sinister development and the scene shifts.

The next sequence reveals three other kids (all boys) hanging out in the night, with one of them narrating a creepy story of three siblings disappearing (the earlier case).

With their theories and explanation on the supposed local legend, the kids decide to trek down the same route where the siblings had disappeared years ago. To the viewers' surprise, a similar misfortune befalls the three boys (William 'Bones' Jarvis, P.K. Riggins and Josh Harmon) as they turn up at the same cornfield.

As a result, the BAU takes up the investigation on the case and learn from their parents that the boys have been missing since the night before. With leads from Chris (local chief), they get to know that the case of the missing siblings is real. It is an incident that took place in 1983 involving three siblings.

Deeley Henson was the eldest of the three and John and Allie were twins. The younger ones were never found and Deeley who was outcast by the town had reportedly become an alchoholic. Some even held him responsible for his brother and sister's death, nothing more than speculations.

With Deeley Henson appearing on the screen and other involvements in and around Elliott's pond, the episode peaks the excitement of the audience.

In 1983, the three siblings (Deeley, Allie and John) disappeared while cycling their way to a cornfield close to Elliott's pond. Even though, Deeley survived the mysterious attacks and went off the radar while Allie and John were never to be found.

People of the town had speculated over the years that Deeley was the one who killed his siblings and was treated as an outcast all his life, even by his parents.

What we see in Elliot's Pond episode is something similar, where three friends go missing while riding their bicycles. The pattern of disappearance was exactly similar to what happened almost thirty years ago, leaving the BAU searching for clues to crack open the unsolved mysteries.

(2) The link between Old Man Clemmons and the missing kids, facts explored

Reginald Clemmons also known as Old Man Clemmons in Criminal Minds' episode Elliot's Pond, had been shown as a man with a history of mental delirium and records of child abduction and assault. He was one of the few survivors of the fire that broke out in a local mental isntitution many years back.

Through a series of events the BAU end up at Clemmon's house and find Bones, Riggins and Harmon being held captive, but unharmed. Two captors (a man and a woman) are in charge of the house while Clemmons is nowhere to be seen. With local chief Cooper's intervention at the scene, it is revealed that the two captors are John and Allie Henson.

The two of them were abducted by Old Man Clemmons in 1983 and were so heavily brainwashed that they followed each and every order of his. The Henson twins thus continued the cycle after so many years and captivated the three boys in a similar way, so that they do not feel lonely. However, John and Allie never had any intentions of hurting the kids and also fed and kept them properly.

(3) A reunion of the long lost siblings

As Allie opens up about her loneliness to Cooper, a known face, Deeley Henson ends up at Clemmon's mysterious house to help the BAU find the lost kids. In a heartwarming turn of events, he is reunited with his long lost siblings John and Allie who have been under the wraps of a dark force for a very long time, as the Criminal Minds' episode gets closure.

(4) William Jarvis was called 'Bones'

The character William Jarvis, also known as Bones in Elliott's Pond, is inspired by the nickname of one of the children of Erica Messer, the writer of Elliott's Pond. Messer has also written other episodes for the show.

According to reports, Erica has mentioned that her children take interest in filmmaking, so she used one of their identities in the original show as an inspiration.

The second time Reid went to interview Deeley Henson in Elliott's Pond, he learnt that Deeley survived the night his siblings went missing. He further added that they were last seen near Elliott's Pond before their disappearance. Following this, the pond was dredged but the police found nothing.

While searching the possible crime scene, Luke and Reid came across a backpack, probably belonging to one of the kids. After further investigation, they discovered some hunting traps, appearing like they had been freshly used. This revelation made Deeley to divulge information on Clemmons who was initally at the root of all the trouble.
