The latest episode of Creature Commandos featured a surprise Batman cameo. Coming right before the upcoming finale of Creature Commandos, the show seems to be throwing all of its cards for maximum effect. The impending finale can therefore be surmised to be equally engaging. Although the caped crusader appeared for a brief moment while trying to apprehend Dr. Phosphorus, a few details emerged from his appearance, hinting at the future significance of the most recognizable superhero.

Creature Commandos episode six detailed the origin story of Alexadar Sartorius who later on came to be known as the nuclear villain Dr. Phosphorus. While the episode went into flashbacks to reveal that Alexander Startorius was gifted scientist trying to find a cancer treatment that causes less harm to the human body, we came to know that his wife was murdered by the notorious crime lord Rupert Thorne.

Having his mind set on revenge, Dr. Phosphorus ends up killing the entirety of Rupert Thorne's gang including the boss himself, before taking over all of his underworld business in Gotham. Dr. Phosphorus then throws a party at the Ice Lounge to celebrate his victory. However, Batman soon shows up to apprehend him. Here's everything that we know.

Creature Commandos Batman cameo explored in detail

It is a known fact that DC co-chairmans James Gunn and Peter Safran dished out Creature Commandos as a sort of launching pad for their new and renovated DCU. Therefore it is natural that several upcoming DC superheroes will have their first appearance in their new avatars on Creature Commandos. This has been the case with Superman.

Till date, Batman has appeared in two cameos on the adult animated show. His first appearance showcased his impaled body lying dead as in Circe's vision the aftermath of the third world war unleashed by Princess Illana Rostovic led to the death of many superheroes.

The second time that Batman appeared in a cameo, he was seen in a silhouette against the Gotham night sky, looking over the darkness of the Ice Lounge where Dr. Phosphorus was celebrating his victory as the new crime lord in the city.

The new look of Batman has now led to several speculations about the way in which this appearance is different as compared to the Batman played by Robert Pattinson. The new DCU Batman features broad shoulders and wears a pronounced utility belt, as compared to Pattinson's Batman who had larger ears and a comparatively slender frame.

What's the latest buzz around Batman?

Although there hasn't been any official confirmation in this direction, it is being speculated that Robert Pattinson might not be cast as the upcoming Batman in the new DCU. Production is yet to start on The Brave and The Bold movie and it might be a while before the caped crusader gets a standalone film.

James Gunn has recently hinted that the new DCU that he has in mind is a place where people are already aware of the identity of Batman, and therefore another origin story film might not be called for. Speaking in an interview with Rotten Tomateos, Gunn stated:

"Yeah, we don’t need to hear the origin story again. That’s just a way to introduce that Batman is an important part of this universe, and he has an impact on it — including defeating such pretty dangerous, scary people like Phosphorus, who’s pretty tough. This is the DCU Batman. He’s the most popular superhero in the world and I can’t wait for people to see more of him, along with Superman, and together.”

Creature Commandos finale airs on January 9, 2025 on Max.
