Creature Commandos' finale shocked its viewers with the heartbreaking death of Nina Mazursky. The episode's somber mood is set right from the opening moments of "A Very Funny Monster". However, there is a bittersweet ending to the episode, including a post-credit scene frustratingly relatable to women across the world.
Creature Commandos Season 1 Episode 7 recap
As speculated last week the Creature Commandos Season 1 finale focuses on Nina Mazursky. It begins with a flashback and then, it picks up right after Nina, The Bride, Weasel, and Doctor Phosphorus re-united close to Princess Ilana Rostovic's castle.
- Nina Mazursky's origin revealed
Right in the opening flashback, it is revealed that Nina was born with the lungs out of her body. Her father Edward Mazursky, a respected scientist, performs an experiment on Nina to help her breathe easily. This experiment transforms Nina into an amphibian being. A few years later, a school admits Nina to their school, but the students are hostile to her.
Therefore, Nina runs away from her home into a sewer. One day, a photographer clicks a picture of Nina, and it is aired on television, alerting Edward. As she is captured, her father tries to help Nina, but he is shot by the police. Then she is thrown into prison, where we first see her in the first episode of Creature Commandos.
- The Bride shoots Eric Frankenstein
The Bride and the rest of the commandos manage to break into the security room. In one of the monitors, the team discovers something sinister, but at that moment, Eric Frankenstein barges into the room to The Bride's chagrin. She shoots him and leaves him for dead.
- The Bride convinces Nina to murder the princess
Princess Ilana nonchalantly goes swimming in the moat close to her castle. As she does that, the Task Force "M" or Creature Commandos formulate plans to kill her. That's where The Bride, convinces Nina to take a knife and stab the princess under the water. Initially hesitant, Nina finally takes the Shiv to kill the princess after The Bride calls Nina a "monster" and a "freak". Meanwhile, Rick Flag Sr. wakes up.
- Waller realizes about Clayface's deception
Rick Flag Sr. is conscious for a bit and in that small time, he conveys his discovery of Professor Professor Aisla MacPherson's death. Waller and John John Economos rush to MacPherson's home to find the real professor's body and even Clayface, who seems dead. This may mean that the Clayface in the future DCU projects, including the solo movie produced by Mike Flanagan will be different.
After this discovery, Waller tries to contact Pokolistan to try and stop the Creature Commandos from carrying out the mission of killing Princess Rostovic. However, that's too late as the mission is carried out and there is a heartbreaking death.
- Nina meets her maker
Nina Mazursky is the most human of all the Creature Commandos and she was unjustly imprisoned. She was further hurt when The Bride referred to her as a monster to encourage her to kill the princess. As she is about to stab the princess, things take a turn for the worse because of Weasel.
Weasel manages to alert Princess Rostovic about Nina coming to stab her. The princess and Nina fight under the water, and the former manages to get hold of the knife and stabs the latter multiple times, killing her. As Nina's bloodied lifeless body floats towards the surface, a Pokolistinian security hands Waller's phone to The Bride.
In that call, Waller informs The Bride about the mission to kill the princess being a mistake. However, there is another twist.
- A sinister plot is uncovered and thwarted
The Bride has a private chat with Ilana in which the former reveals that she is aware that the latter is the mastermind behind it all. At the beginning of the episode, Creature Commandos saw Princess Rostovic with Clayface. It is revealed that Circe is the only obstacle in the princess's plan. So, the Amazonian sorceress' precognitive vision was true, Rostovic was going to destroy the world.
The Bride says that while she does not care about the world, she is going to kill the princess because the latter killed her only friend. After shooting the princess, The Bride, Doctor Phosphorus, and Weasel leave the castle. In the closing moments, John Economos thanks The Bride for saving the world. Then, she is given a surprise.
- A new team is revealed
The Bride meets new members of Task Force "M" or Creature Commandos. From the first season, the line-up for season 2 includes Doctor Phosphorus, Weasel, and a newly built G.I. Robot. New members of the team include King Shark, the vampire Nosferata, and the mummy Khalis.
- The post-credit scene
In the post-credit scene, Eric Frankenstein is with another old woman who is tending to his injuries. While having soup, he still expresses his delusional belief that The Bride is just playing hard-to-get. While it is unclear if he will appear in live-action or not. However, this scene does set up his role in Creature Commandos Season 2.

All seven episodes of Creature Commandos are currently streaming on Max. The series was renewed for a second season in December 2024. The release date for season 2 is not confirmed yet.
