After the success of The Boys, Jensen Ackles will be seen in another highly anticipated Prime Video series: Countdown. The crime drama features the actor as an LAPD officer who is enlisted on a team of undercover agents to investigate the murder of a government official.

As the team delves into the case, they find out the murder is linked to a bigger conspiracy. The series comes from Derek Haas, the mind behind the massively popular One Chicago franchise.

Countdown is slated to debut on Prime Video on June 25, 2025. The show will comprise 13 episodes, with the first three dropping simultaneously on the premiere day. A similar trend has been followed in several other Prime Video programs.

The show will then follow a weekly schedule, airing one episode every Wednesday. The finale is scheduled for September 3, 2025. The project was confirmed last year, with filming taking place from September 2024 to March 2025.

The storyline of Countdown

Countdown revolves around Mark Meachum, an LAPD officer. When a government official dies under mysterious circumstances, Meachum is tasked with an undercover mission to find out what actually transpired.

He has to team up with agents from different departments to track the culprit before time runs out. However, the team soon realizes that the murder was part of a sinister plot that could threaten the lives of millions of people. The official logline for the series reads:

“When an officer with the Department of Homeland Security is murdered in broad daylight, LAPD detective Mark Meachum, portrayed by Ackles, is recruited to a secret task force, alongside undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement, to investigate.”

“But the hunt for the killer soon uncovers a plot far more sinister than anyone could have imagined, kicking off a race against time to save a city of millions.”

Jensen Ackles plays the lead role of LAPD officer Mark Meachum. The actor has had a long and successful association with Prime Video. Thanks to his role as Soldier Boy in The Boys. He is also confirmed to headline a prequel of the superhero series on the streaming platform titled Vought Rising.

Ackles is joined by All Rise actress Jessica Camacho, who plays Amber Oliveras. Death and Other Details actress Violett Beane portrays Evan Shepherd, and Euphoria star Eric Dane plays Nathan Blythe. Elliot Knight, known for his roles in Life Sentence and American Gothic, plays Keyonte Bell, and Australian actor Uli Latukefu stars as Lucas Finau. The full cast list is given below:
