As of now, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 is confirmed for 10 episodes, just like the previous seasons. This episodic structure aligns with the series' approach of exploring diverse genres and tones in each episode.
Co-showrunners Akiva Goldsman and Henry Alonso Myers have indicated that they have proposed longer seasons, but the series has consistently been limited to 10 episodes per season. Goldsman mentioned that the writers often have more episode ideas than they can accommodate, but the decision on episode count is ultimately made by the network. He described the show's format as a "Friends anthology," where each episode is a unique story within a broader narrative and with the same characters.

Could Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 have more than 10 episodes?
At San Diego Comic-Con 2024, in an interview with Screenrant, co-showrunner Akiva Goldsman explained that even though they wanted to do more episodes, they were limited by the studio/network. Paramount+ has decided that they can have less but not more than 10 episodes. The reason could be budget, schedule or the pattern the studio follows.
Goldman remarked,
"It’s sort of like a Friends anthology. Let’s do ‘One Where,’ let’s do ‘The One Where…’ And we always have more cards than 10 by the end. Some of the other shows… Disco was 13… So we sort of batted our eyes and said, ‘Give us more’, and they said, ‘No, you can have less,’ and we’re like, ‘Okay! Ten’s good."
Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds picks up from the Season 2 finale, where the crew faces the Gorn menace. To track the Gorn ship, Captain Pike devises a risky plan using a modified torpedo. This is the point where they embark on a rescue mission. The show comes with a fresh perspective but has the potential to make fans go all nostalgic. The season delves into the evolving relationship between Spock and Nurse Chapel, especially with the arrival of her fiancé, Dr. Roger Korby.
What do we know about the Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3 cast list?

For the season which is dropping sometime in mid 2025 after facing delays due to 2023 Hollywood strikes, Paramount+ recently dropped 12 individual character posters. Indeed these characters are supposed to be the important ones. But having 12 critical characters for just one season of TV seems massive. Therefore, many reports also cite this as a reason that Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has the potential to go beyond 10 episodes.
In addition to this, many guest stars are also joining the show which shows that Star Trek is indeed investing in its actors to keep it just right. Anson Mount will appear as Captain Pike, Jess Bush as Nurse Chapel, Melanie Scrofano as Captain Marie Batel and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga among others.
