Popular drama by Paramount Pictures, Yellowstone fans are growing frustrated over the recent killing of beloved character Colby Mayfield who has been part of the show since its start. In some comments cursing the creator of the show- Taylor Sheridan, fans alleged that the creators don't care about their feelings and claimed that the show has stagnated and has lost its touch as the result of the creator's bad choices.
The body count in the show was anyways increasing as the show moved towards its end. John Dutton was killed followed by Sarah Atwood. Both deaths were interlinked and served significantly to the plot of the story, unlike Colby's death which was a tragic incident. Therefore, fans furiously point it out as unnecessary with no conceivable plot-related reason.
Yellowstone fans compare the show with GOT's downfall
Yellowstone is recognized as one of the most sensational dramas after the popular Game of Thrones. But similar to Game of Thrones' fate where the show's ending disappointed the fans, they are expecting something similar with Yellowstone after its latest plot twist leading to Colby's tragic death.
"Why would they just randomly just kill off Colby from @yellowstone? That might be the dumbest Sh*t I've ever seen" One said on X.com.
"Them pushing Jimmy back into a naive kid is annoying. He went to the 6666 to learn to cowboy and made a nice character arc, now he is the dumb guy again. Travis, Taylor Sheridan, showing little emotion about Johns death was kind sour," another commented.
"The more i watch of this season the more i am convinced this is just a frankenstein’s monster of two seasons sloppily sewed together. colby dying should have been its own more developed storyline, rather than having it crammed in between all these other massive plot lines," another contributed to the thread.
Despite its phenomenal start, fans felt that the show started deteriorating in season 3. Many felt that just when they began to enjoy it again, they were further disappointed by the events of season 5. The impressive return of the show to the grassroots is appreciable, but the expansive landscape and politics are not enough to satisfy viewers' tastes anymore. Gore, blood-violence has been in demand since Game of Thrones made them fashionable.
"It wasn't gut wrenching, it was just pointless bad writing that made little sense," one fan wrote.
"It was completely pointless and frustrating. Colby was such a great character! So I guess mission accomplished. Everyone is annoyed." another chimed in.
"That was not cool. I hate that they killed Colby. If ANYONE deserved a happy ending when this series ends, it was these two. Felt so bad for Teeter upon hearing the news. After they just said "I love you" to each other too," said another on X
This happened right after the show was believed to gain recognition and popularity like Game of Thrones.
