Cobra Kai has been steadily building a dedicated audience for the past five seasons. The sixth season of Cobra Kai has been split into three parts consisting of five episodes each and in the absence of any further official confirmation, might serve as the last installment of the Karate Kid reboot show. Jacob Bertrand, born Jacbob Scott Thomas Bertrand has been portraying Hawk on Cobra Kai since 2018. His contributions to the show have been noted as meticulous and graceful. However, it is surprising to know that he happened to be cast on the show merely by chance as he had no aspirations to make a career out of acting.
Cobra Kai is a sequel to the Karate Kid franchise that first began on YouTube Red before moving on to Netflix. It features a few popular legacy characters from the original franchise including Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusson, who are joined by a group of young martial arts trainees.

Cobra Kai star Jacob Bertrand is an American actor born on March 6, 2000, in Los Angeles, California. As of this writing, he is a little over 24 years old. He has three siblings in his family. It might now seem that Jacob was almost destined for the role of Hawk as he had Taekwondo for four years at a strip mall, eventually earning a purple belt. Subsequently, upon being cast for the show, he received extensive training from Grandmaster Simon Rhee.
Apart from his work on Cobra Kai, Jacob has been associated with several Nickelodeon projects such as the sitcom, Marvin Marvin. Besides acting, he has lent his voice to several characters and has done extensive voice-over work including the animated series, Bubble Guppies.
Jacob Bertrand opens up about working on the show and other details
Jacob recently appeared for an interview with Cosmopolitan magazine where he spoke at length about his experience of filming the show and the camaraderie it created between the actors. Speaking about working with his co-actors, he stated:
"A lot of us didn't get to go to college and this was sort of our college. Xolo and I were roommates while we were filming, Peyton List lived in the back house. Gianni was over all the time. It kind of felt like we were all living in the same dorm. And it's true, like this really does parallel our careers as everyone's kind of moving on to do other things. We're still going to say friends, it's just a really odd time."
Regarding his entry into the show and the way he landed the role, Jacob revealed:
"I was very close to not doing Cobra Kai. I has just come off of a show that I was on and I really wanted to go away for college. I really wanted to go to film school, and that was my goal. Ten I booked this role and I was like, Well, it's YouTube Red. Is anyone gonna watch this? Before my first audition, I didn't know that there was a Hawk, it was just Eli at the time. And my mom was like, 'Jacob, you never know who you're going to be and what the experience is going to be like. You should just do it. Have fun. Whatever little money you make from it use it to pay for college.'"
