Cobra Kai has finally come to an end after 6 seasons that ran for almost 7 years. The show introduced new characters besides featuring The Karate Kid's original stars - Ralph Macchio and William Zabka. These new characters also successfully made their mark on the audience, and several emerged as fan favorites.

Given the kind of popularity that Cobra Kai received, there is no wonder that the creators are open to having spin-offs. In fact, they might already have something in mind, as was revealed by Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg to Entertainment Weekly.

They mentioned that they might have thought about something involving Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) and Hawk (Jacob Bertrand), who are shown to be fixing their friendship by the time Cobra Kai ends and also go to college together.

Cobra Kai creators have possibly planned for a spin-off with Demetri and Hawk

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, creators Jon Hurwitz, Josh Heald, and Hayden Schlossberg were asked about possible spin-offs. They hinted that they may have already thought of something with Demetri and Hawk. Heald said:

"That may or may not be something we've already talked about."

As Entertainment Weekly’s Kristen Baldwin pitched a Cobrai Kai spin-off with Demetri and Hawk, Hurwitz mentioned:

"It's like she stole our computer! ... There may actually be a document, a very thorough document, that says what you just said."

Both Demetri and Hawk were introduced in Cobra Kai Season 1 and since then have appeared in every season.

Due to professional competition, they often suffered problems in their friendship. By the end of Cobra Kai, these two friends were back on track as they drove together to Caltech for college, which potentially set up the spin-off premise.

More on Cobra Kai

Cobra Kai is an American comedy-drama with its main focus on martial arts. Created by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald, the show came as a sequel to the extremely popular Karate Kid films.

After the finale, when the creators were asked what they felt now that their Cobra Kai journey had come to an end, Schlossberg mentioned to Gizmodo:

“It’s sunk in. We’ve hung out with Marty Cove enough where we’re like, “Yeah, this is not a dream.” [All laugh] At the same time, I think now that we’re doing press for it, it’s just like you really appreciate the fact that we were able to get six seasons in this day and age. When we started this – we pitched it back in 2016-2017, when we started getting the rights to it and everything – the concept of having a six-season TV show was still a possibility, but it was a long shot back then.”

His words show how close this project was to their heart, and now that Cobra Kai has found a fitting finale, it remains to be seen if the spin-off with Demitri and Hawk comes into being.

Cobra Kai can be streamed on Netflix.
