Recently, The Challenge season 40 received various complaints from the cast members about how they were treated during the filming. Sharing more on this, The Challenge winner Jordan Wiseley shared his thoughts and posted a video on July 14 on Instagram.
Wes Bergmann, a three-time champion, replied to such comments while defending the show via a Tweet.
"The show is called The Challenge. It’s in the title. If you ever complain about living conditions when on a show called The Challenge you need to clout chase on another channel." Wes’s Tweet reads.
What were the allegations against The Challenge season 40?
Four-time Challenge champion Jordan Wiseley can be seen in the video he shared via Instagram, stating, “The worst treatment we’ve ever received” as cast during The Challenge season 40 filming.
Jordan’s video further stated:
"Less than a month away and we HAVE to get in shape!! When I say 'a challenge house is one of the worst environments to be in' I’m not exaggerating. This one was by far the worst treatment we’ve ever received as a cast, and it’s taken a toll."
Jordan has participated in nine seasons of the show and won four of them. This includes Battle of the Exes II, War of the World 2, Dirty 30, and the World Championship. He will also be part of Era 3 of season 40.
Supporting his claim, additional Battle of the Eras participants also came forward and shared their thoughts in the comments of the video that Jordan posted.
"I lost so much weight and cardio and strength!" said Kyland Young.
"I didn’t even get a pair of shoes that fitted for the whole time!! I lost 23lbs.” Theo Campbell commented.
Laurel Stucky, who competed in eight seasons and won twice, said,
"WE DECAY."
Johnny "Bananas" Devenanzio’s comment reads,
"All meals must be made under a staircase… Harry Potter style."
The Challenge alum Wes Bergmann’s thoughts
After learning about all the complaints that participants have been sharing, Wes, a former participant of the show and a three-time winner, came forward and shared several Tweets about it.
One of his Tweets read:
"Do you know how hard it is to change countries almost every season whilst feeding/housing 40 cast members & over 100+ production staff? Some stuff will break & fall through the cracks. Trust me, if we filmed in the exact location in Fiji EvErY sINgLe SeAsOn it would be smoother."
Wes’s tweets came after he learned that the current participants had complained about the show. Last month, Jordan Wiseley shared an Instagram video which stated how the cast was treated and how “a challenge house is one of the worst environments to be in.”
Wiseley added, “This one was by far the worst treatment we’ve ever received as a cast, and it’s taken a toll.” A few days later, another cast member, Theo Campbell, also Tweeted and shared that “production not giving a f.”
Emily Schromm, a returning champion of The Challenge, shared her views during her latest Entertainment Weekly. She said that when participating in such a large production, cast members should expect the conditions.
"Inside the house, you are in an environment where there's so many people that are used to being adults in their regular life and now we're being herded like cows from place to place to place to stay on production time."
Emily shared this via her EW interview before the upcoming season premiere.
