If you have been craving a sitcom with the vibe of a classic feel-good comedy of the nineties, you could try tuning in to the new Prime Video series, Clean Slate. The show is about a trans woman named Desiree Slate (played by Laverne Cox), who returns to her hometown of Mobile, Alabama, after staying apart from her father for over two decades.

Desiree had left town as a guy named Desmond, and was living in New York all these years, while her father Harry (George Wallace), who owns the Slate Family Car Wash in Alabama, was unaware of Desmond having embraced an identity as a trans woman.

Unlike many parents who might have reacted with shock or disappointment to the situation, Harry is only mildly surprised. He is just happy that his child has come back home, and thus their emotional yet comedic journey begins.

Clean Slate focuses on Desiree rebuilding her relationship with her father and forming bonds with the other residents of her hometown, especially Opal, the young girl who becomes like a little sister, and Mack, who shares a great chemistry with Desiree.

Apart from the narrative, the first season of Clean Slate also includes numerous songs all through the eight episodes that you might want to explore. Keep reading to know about the songs featured in the series, and take a look at our complete guide to the songs.
