Season 11 saw the departure of Tracy Spiridakos, who played Detective Hailey Upton. She was a central figure in the Intelligence Unit, and her exit has left a huge gap in the team. Season 12 has to bridge this gap and might also introduce new characters, bringing a fresh dynamic into the mix.

According to Deadline's reports, one of the new faces is Toya Turner, who joins the cast as police officer Yara Page. Yara might be a potential love interest for Kevin Atwater, played by LaRoyce Hawkins, adding a personal twist to the overall professional tensions. Turner isn’t new to the "One Chicago" universe; she has appeared in various roles in Chicago Fire and Chicago Med.

Another major addition is Shawn Hatosy, who will be seen in the role of Deputy Chief Charlie Reid. Showrunner Gwen Sigan shared with TV Insider that Reid's relationship with Voight (played by Jason Beghe) will add a “new dynamic,” as both men share similar approaches to justice.

She shared:

“I think he sees a lot of himself in Voight and identifies quite a bit with Voight and Voight’s philosophy as a police officer, and they have a really interesting relationship that will evolve as the season goes on.”

Aside from Toya Turner and Shawn Hatosy, you can expect to see these cast members in Chicago P.D. Season 12:

  • Jason Beghe as Detective Sergeant Hank Voight
  • LaRoyce Hawkins as Kevin Atwater
  • Patrick John Flueger as Adam Ruzek
  • Marina Squerciati as Kim Burgess
  • Amy Morton as Trudy Platt
  • Benjamin Levy Aguilar as Dante Torres

In Chicago P.D. Season 12, we will continue to witness the Intelligence Unit work hard to protect Chicago. However, the departure of Hailey Upton will certainly shake things up in the team. They will have to adjust without her, and it’ll be interesting to watch how they fill her void.

This brings us to one of the biggest questions that many fans might have as they walk into Season 12: how will the unit cope with Hailey’s departure? Moreover, fans are wondering if her shoes will be filled by a new replacement for the character.

It was a tough year for the unit in season 11. A kidnapping victim named Noah died. Noah had started to heal and recall what had happened but was kidnapped again and didn't survive the second time.

Voight, who helped him recover after the victim was tortured, will likely be seen grappling with the loss in season 12. Fans are eager to see how Voight deals with all the loss.

There is no doubt that the show will maintain its intense action and gripping cases with character complexity in Chicago P.D. Season 12.
