What happened in Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 16?
Chicago PD Season 12 Episode 16 was Detective Kim Burgess' shining moment, as she was personally connected to the case of the week. The episode starts with Burgess choosing a nearby diner to work at because working at home has become uncomfortable for her.
She started frequenting the diner and became accustomed to the regular customers and the staff until one day, a shooting took place there. Burgess and her team arrived and identified a victim, Gabriel Basco, who owed money to a gang. They initially thought the shooting was somehow related to it.
However, that was a dead end, and the team came across another regular, Neal, whom Burgess recognized. She later realized that Neal was not a suspect but a witness. Burgess then remembered a couple who frequently visited the diner and had marital problems.
Burgess remembered the wife, Marge's, conversation with the waiter who revealed that she and her husband Jeff were struggling financially. Jeff robbed a place, and Marge somehow found out about it and reported him to the police anonymously.
However, on the night of the shooting, Jeff discovered that his wife snitched on him. Enraged, he went into the diner, killed Marge, and then killed everyone else, turning the scene into a mass shooting.
Thanks to Neal's statement, Burgess and her team went after Jeff, who was killed during a confrontational shootout.
