What happened in Chicago P.D. Season 12 Episode 14?
In the previous episode, titled 'Marie,' Detective Adam Ruzek dealt with both, a tough case, and personal struggles. His father, Bob, had Alzheimer’s and often forgot important details about his life.
At the same time, the police were searching for a serial killer named Thomas Cronin. He targeted single mothers, cutting them off from their loved ones before eventually killing them and their children.
The only person he never harmed was Zoe, a girl he convinced was his daughter. She believed him at first, but after seeking therapy, she realized he had been lying. Zoe was living in a foster home when her foster mother, Sandy, noticed a suspicious van in the neighborhood.
She called Ruzek, but by the time he arrived, Sandy had been murdered, and Zoe was missing. Bob then proved to be beneficial as despite his memory issues, he remembered that Cronin had been visiting veteran hospitals.
This helped the police track Cronin down, however, he killed himself in custody without revealing where Zoe was. Luckily, she had left hidden messages for help. The police followed her clues to an abandoned motel, where they finally found her locked in a room. In the end, her DNA test revealed Zoe was actually Marie, the daughter of one of Cronin’s first victims.
