Famous for its emotional character arcs and storylines, Chicago Med delves into the complex lives of the center's doctors, nurses, and staff. The new season promises more challenges for the cast, both in and off the hospital.
The previous season of Chicago Med was about Sharon Goodwin getting back to the dating scene, Dr. Dean Archer recovering from a life-saving kidney transplant, Maggie Lockwood adjusting to life post-divorce while finding a new romance interest, and Dr. Hannah Asher and Mitch Ripley’s passionate romance.

1) Marlyne Barrett as Maggie Lockwood
Marlyne Barrett returns as Maggie Lockwood in Chicago Med Season 10. She is the dedicated charge nurse in the Emergency Department at the center. Maggie has always been accustomed to how a medical center works because she is the child of a midwife.
Maggie is quite serious about her job. She is committed, focused, and has a low tolerance for errors. However, she is very dedicated to her team, including her colleagues and juniors. Hence, she can be called the backbone of the center. In the previous season, she helped one of the patients with a blood test when their insurance money did not cover it.
Maggie hasn’t had a smooth-flowing personal life. She had a teen pregnancy when she was 16 and is reeling from a divorce. However, she has developed a new interest in a pilot, and Chicago Med Season 10 will likely focus on that aspect of her life, too.
Barrett was previously in The Wire and Damages.
2) Oliver Platt as Dr. Daniel Charles
Oliver Platt continues his role as Dr. Daniel Charles. He is a seasoned epidemiologist at the center. Dr. Charles has had a complicated personal life. He has been married four times, and his battle with depression has been a recurring theme in the show.
His father was an addict, and Dr.Charles, to numb his feelings, has sometimes gone overboard with the antidepressants he takes. His professional expertise is consoling distressed patients.
In Chicago Med Season 10, viewers will witness more of his ongoing struggles, including his challenging relationship with Dr. Mitch Ripley.
Platt’s most recent popular role has been Uncle Jimmy in the hit series The Bear.
3) S. Epatha Merkerson as Sharon Goodwin
Sharon Goodwin, played by S. Epatha Merkerson, is the center's Executive Director of Patient and Medical Services. She was a charge nurse before joining Med.
Sharon is a strong advocate for rules and protocols. She is almost always ready to defend her staff, but she is also not afraid to confront her colleagues about controversial procedures.
Merkerson has to her credit the role of Lieutenant Anita Van Buren on Law & Order.
4) Jessy Schram as Dr. Hannah Asher
Jessy Schram returns as Dr. Hannah Asher. She is a skilled Obstetrician-Gynecologist at the center. However, just like the other doctors, she struggles too. She is a victim of substance abuse and is addicted to heroin. She is sent to rehab once Will Halstead finds out about it. Hannah handles patients who go through similar situations.
In Chicago Med Season 10, Hannah’s relationship with Dr. Mitch Ripley heats up as the two get more passionate about each other.
Schram is known for her roles in Veronica Mars and Once Upon a Time.
5) Luke Mitchell as Dr. Mitch Ripley
As Dr. Mitch Ripley, Luke Mitchell is an attending physician in the Emergency Department at the center. Mitch suffers from an impulse control disorder because of his difficult childhood. Mitch’s encounters with Dr. Daniel Charles have created tension between the two.
Mitch graduated from Columbia University with a full scholarship. In Chicago Med Season 10, expect more of this strained relationship as Mitch figures out his professional responsibilities while holding on to the past.
Mitchell was seen in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Blindspot.
6) Steven Weber as Dr. Dean Archer
Steven Weber plays Dr. Dean Archer, who heads the Emergency Department at the center. He was in the Navy before the center, which led him to suffer from PTSD. He faces his challenges on his own and does not want to see a psychiatrist to get professional help.
In Chicago Med Season 9, Dr. Archer dealt with a special case involving a “family curse,” which he solved using a pacemaker. The new season will likely see Dr. Archer deal with more new cases while also managing the pressure of the center.

7) Darren Barnet as Dr. John Frost
Darren Barnet, who plays Dr. John Frost in Chicago Med Season 10, is new to the medical world. He joins as the hospital’s new pediatrician. Dr. Frost possesses a warm demeanor that helps him connect with the young patients. He knows his way around children and ensures they feel comfortable during their treatments.
