NBC’s hit firefighter drama Chicago Fire is back with another intense episode, and fans won’t want to miss it. After a short break, Episode 18, titled "Post-Mortem," airs Wednesday, April 16, at 9 PM ET/8 PM CT on NBC. You can also stream it the next day on Peacock.
One of the biggest moments in this episode is the return of Eamonn Walker as Chief Wallace Boden. Since being promoted to Deputy Commissioner in Season 12, Boden has been mostly absent this season, but now he’s back for a major storyline.
In the new promo, Boden is seen looking into a devastating fire incident, saying:
“Last night was every firefighter’s worst nightmare.”
His return isn’t just a cameo; he’s on a mission. Commissioner Grissom (Gary Cole) assigns him to lead a post-incident investigation after a deadly house fire where a firefighter was trapped inside. Boden insists:
“I need to know exactly what went wrong. All I’m after is the truth.”
What to expect from Episode 18?
Showrunner Andrea Newman says this episode will be different from usual, using flashbacks and multiple perspectives to piece together what really happened.
The tragedy comes at a tough time for Chief Pascal, who recently lost his wife, Monica, in a car accident. Newman hints that his grief could affect his decisions:
“Pascal won’t make the best choices following Monica’s death.”
Will his emotions cause problems for Firehouse 51?
While Boden leads the investigation, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) will be by his side. Their teamwork could be key to solving the mystery behind the fire.
With high-stakes drama, emotional twists, and Boden’s long-awaited return, Episode 18 is shaping up to be one of the most gripping of the season.
Tune in Wednesday, April 16, at 9/8c on NBC, or stream it the next day on Peacock!
