Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 19, titled Permanent Damage, picked up right where the previous episode, Post Mortem, ended. The official synopsis for the episode reads:

“Severide investigates an old house fire from 10 years back in which Kidd had responded. Carver and Violet search for a mystery medic who abandoned a victim. Novak looks for a roommate.”

In this episode, Jack Damon is still at the hospital as he suffered serious lung damage, as shown in the previous episode. His step-brother, Kelly Severide, comes to visit him and encourages him to remain optimistic about returning to his career as a firefighter.

As Damon’s chances of getting back to his job depend on the results of certain tests, Severide assures him that he has previously seen other firefighters pull through such situations.

The characters, including Violet and Mouch, have their own storylines in this episode. Let us now explore what happened in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 19 in detail.

The following article contains spoilers.

Violet gets hold of Danny in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 19

As Severide re-investigates Natalie’s case, Violet is also shown to be doing some detective work of her own as she tries to find the medic who abandoned a patient who almost killed the latter. She is joined by Sam Carver, who is back from rehab.

As the duo dig deeper, it is eventually revealed that the doctor who committed such a heinous act worked under the name of Danny. However, although Violet thought that he would be subjected to serious punishment, that did not happen because the patient who suffered was not keen on pursuing a complaint.

This frustrates Violet, and she decides to confront Danny on her own and threaten him to quit. Accompanied by Carver, she tells him that if he continues damaging the health of other patients, he will face consequences, as Violet herself will take action.

Mouch works hard to prove his worth to Chief Pascal in Chicago Fire Season 13 Episode 19

As has been established in the previous few episodes, Mouch and Chief Pascal’s relationship had gone through some damage, and that led to Pascal recommending Kidd for the conference that Mouch wanted to attend.

Mouch had also turned down a promotion offer in another firehouse. That embarrassed Pascal as he had arranged for that promotion after talking to one of his friends. However, while Mouch did want to advance in his career, he was content to remain at 51.

After not being able to go to the conference, Mouch started to work harder to show his dedication to the job and prove his capabilities to Pascal. This does draw Pascal’s attention, and he gets impressed. However, in a rather unforeseen turn of events, Mouch badmouths Pascal and also tells Herrmann that he should take the Chief’s position.

This seemed somewhat surprising, and it is very likely that these three men will be up for some serious confrontation in the upcoming episodes.
