The event will be available for viewers to watch on Netflix live. It will feature competitive eaters Joey Chestnut and Takeru Kobayashi, arch-rivals in the hot dog eating championships.

Viewers can watch the event on Netflix on September 2, 2024, at 3 PM ET (noon PT). Going live on Labor Day, the event pits the giants of the competitive food industry, whose rivalry has been ongoing for 15 years. It will be the first time viewers can stream Joey Chestnut and Kobayashi live after a decade.

Viewers can expect to see a lot more than just Chestnut vs. Kobayashi. Before the main event, viewers will also see a cutthroat chicken wing-eating competition. The participants will be Youtuber Matt Sonie, Olympians Max Irving, Ryan Lochte, and Ryan Murphy. Moreover, viewers will also get to watch expert eater Leah Shutkever aiming to set a new fruit-eating record by devouring the most watermelons ever devoured in just three minutes.

Joey Chestnut is a competitive eater with the world record for eating the most hot dogs, 76 in 10 minutes. He has also consumed almost 335,000 calories in hot dogs, equivalent to what an average person consumes in 6 months. He also holds 55 world records.


Who is Takeru Kobayashi?

On the other hand, Takeru Kobayashi is known as the "Godfather of competitive eating" and has won Nathan's famous 4th of July Hot Dog eating contest 6 times in a row from 2001-2006, breaking his own record. Alongside that, he also holds ten world records in competitive eating.

He is known for his famous technique known as the "Kobayashi Shake." In this signature move, he wiggles his body to force food down his throat and into his stomach.


The rules of the competition declared by Netflix for Chestnut vs. Kobayashi: Unfinished Beef

According to Tudum, the following are the official rules of the competition:

Rule 1: The participants will only be given 10 minutes to chew down all the hotdogs and buns.

Rule 2: The participants will not be allowed to submerge the hotdogs in water or pour water on them.

Rule 3: Buns cannot be separated from hot dogs.

Rule 4: Penalties will be levied in case of breaking rules or regurgitation.

Rule 5: The participants at the end of the contest will be given 30 seconds to swallow whatever is left in their mouths.

Rule 6: The weight of excess crumbs will be considered and deducted from scores if required.

Rule 7: In the event of a tiebreaker, there will be a three-minute overtime. In the case of a second overtime, the participant who finishes five hotdogs and buns first will be declared the winner.
