With the Daredevil show now being creatively revamped and undergoing some major rehauls at Marvel, Charlie Cox has his sights set firmly on being within the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a while now.

Charlie Cox is looking forward to being the next most talked about Marvel hero, and that too for a considerable period of time into the future. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to surmise that he plans on having the job long term. This was reiterated by what he mentioned during the FAN EXPO:

"They're (Marvel) getting ready to release a comic that takes place where Matt Murdock is in his 60s, so I was like, 'Oh, okay, great, so we got some time."

Fans of Daredevil now have reason to rejoice as the fact that Charlie Cox plans on having a long career playing the character means that many interesting narratives might be woven around Daredevil. Here's everything that we know.

What does the future of MCU hold for Charlie Cox?

Charlie Cox has been associated with Daredevil ever since the inception of the show on Netflix. The tone of the show has been remarkably dark and layered compared to the other shows on Disney+. Despite having major creative overhauls, the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again can be expected to further cement Charlie Cox's preeminence as a dependable actor to play the titular role.

Cox recently referred to the comic Daredevil: Cold Day In Hell, which is written by Charles Soule and is purported to consist of a narrative in which Matt Murdock, alias Daredevil, is in his sixties.

It is interesting to note that Charles Soule is the same writer who had previously penned the Death of Wolverine iteration, which in turn led to the highly successful film Logan. It is no doubt that Soule has a penchant for portraying familiar characters at an advanced age and this might just hit the jackpot with Cox's Daredevil.

Daredevil: Born Again's second season to start filming even before the debut of the first season

According to a report by GamesRadar, Cox recently confirmed during the FAN EXPO San Francisco that the second season of the Disney+ show will be commencing filming even before the debut season has premiered. He stated:

"By the time we release it on March 4, by then we'll already be shooting season 2. It's just the gift that keeps on giving."

While speaking about the upcoming show and its tonal shifts from the previous iterations, Cox had previously mentioned:

"The thing that we kept talking about was, this show has had the success that it's had and has appealed to a very specific demographic because it's one of the few superhero shows that is so dark and sinister at times. So we really pushed for the show to remain geared towards an older audience and not dumbed down to kind of capture a wider net of people. I think in some ways it's even darker than a lot of the stuff we've done in the past."

Daredevil: Born Again season one premieres March 4, 2025.
