Celebrity Bear Hunt Episode 5 Recap: Contestants go through the ultimate test where one of them loses their calm

The fifth episode of Celebrity Bear Hunt, Between a Croc and a Bear, aired on February 5, 2025. The episode featured two Bear Pit challenges. The first one continued from the previous episode, which resulted in Mel's elimination.

Later, the participants were divided into two teams for a challenge in the mudflats. After the tide came in the surrounding area, the losing team had to spend a night in the wild.

The next day, the losing team, which included Shirley, Steph, Kola, and Danny, was sent to the Bear Pit. Before the challenge could end, the fifth episode ended.

Celebrity Bear Hunt Episode 5: One elimination, another challenge in mudflats following yet another Bear Pit challenge

Celebrity Bear Hunt Season 1 Episode 5 started with Bear Grylls chasing Mel in the Bear Pit. The cliffhanger from the fourth episode continued, after which Bear caught her.

Lottie and Zuu were still in the Bear Pit, struggling to get out of there while staying out of Bear's sights. As Zuu tried to unlock the tunnel, Bear caught him as well. Lottie was also caught despite her efforts to hide in the jungle.

For the first time on Celebrity Bear Hunt, Bear Grylls caught all the celebrities in the Bear Pit. Una, Zuu, Lottie, and Mel were brought to the Bear Pit Court, where the latter was eliminated and sent home.

After returning to the base camp, they discussed the challenge at the Bear Pit with the rest of the participants.

"I'm feeling very deflated and disappointed in myself that I didn't go in there a fighter today. Do I deserve this second chance?" confessed Una.

Celebrity Bear Hunt Episode 5: Participants were divided into two teams for the challenge located in mudflats

The next morning, the participants visited the mudflats for the next challenge. Celebrity Bear Hunt host Holly welcomed them and explained the task. There were two shelters built with wooden supports. They had to dismantle the shelter and rebuild it over the side before the tide came in.

As usual, the winning team would be headed to the base camp while the losing team:

"Will have to stay in their shelter...and cook their own dinner tonight," shared the host.

Additionally, as usual, the losing team will face Bear Grylls at the Bear Pit and the danger of elimination.

Soon, he joined the participants and shared how fast the tide would be coming in. He also chose team leaders for both teams: Shirley and Joe - who were then given a chance to select their teammates.

• Team Shirley (Orange): Steph, Danny, Kola,
• Team Joe (Blue): Una, Zuu, Lottie.

With Holly's whistle, the challenge started, and both teammates started dismantling their respective shelters. While they did that, the tide started coming in on the mudflats. Initially, the Blue team was leading, and the Orange team was behind.

"The difficulty is, none of us are used to putting up a shelter in a swamp, and you're trying to deal the tide," confessed Steph.

Under Joe's leadership, the Blue team completed building the shelter, first. While they won and were celebrating their win, a conflict started with the opposite team players. Kola seemed to lose his calm after seeing Zuu, Lottie, Una, and Joe celebrating their win. He was quite vocal about how the opposite team’s celebration felt after his team’s loss.

After Bear checked both shelters' strengths, the Blue team was announced as the winner. The Blue team was sent to the base camp, while the Orange team had to spend the night in the swamp.

Celebrity Bear Hunt Episode 5: One more Bear Pit challenge for the losing team

The next morning, the host came to take Shirley, Steph, Kola, and Danny to the Bear Pit. She explained that there were three exits, which could be used only once, and that whoever gets caught by Bear or one of his traps is in danger of elimination.

Celebrity Bear Hunt star Kola was headed towards the tunnel exit, and so was Shirley. Danny chose the fence exit. Steph was going for the 4x4 exit. Bear was hiding and planning his strategy about which celebrity to take on first. Soon, Bear spotted Danny, but he was "hyper-alert."

"I've gotta go quiet because I can hear some noise. I need to outsmart Bear. Do I need to outrun him? Do I need to try and climb a tree? Do I need to try and hide behind a rock?" confessed Danny.

Steph saw the sledgehammer booby-trapped in the cage. She decided to take the risk and managed to get it out in time. Shirley reached the tunnel, and she needed a saw to open it. Soon, Kola also arrived there, but he left after seeing Shirley sitting outside the tunnel.

Bear was still shadowing Danny, who also learned he was being followed. After he was cornered against the steep mountain, he was caught by Bear.

After wandering around the Bear Pit, Steph found the fence. Soon, she learned that the sledgehammer she had been carrying around was the right tool to escape. She slammed it into the marked wooden wall and exited the Bear Pit. Shirley and Kola were still in the challenge.

Bear spotted Shirley and hid under a pile of leaves behind a rock. One more Celebrity Bear Hunt episode ended on a cliffhanger with Bear hiding, with only a slight part of his head visible. Shirley and Kola were still there, wandering around, unaware of Bear hiding there.
