The American post-apocalyptic drama television series The Last of Us is created by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann for HBO. The show, which is based on the Naughty Dog video game franchise, takes place twenty years after an epidemic brought on by a widespread fungal illness that turns its people into zombie-like creatures and forces civilization to fall apart. The first season of the series premiered on January 15, 2023.
Based on the 2013 action-adventure game The Last of Us, the first season centers on Joel (Pedro Pascal), a smuggler who has to guide immune teen Ellie (Bella Ramsey) through a post-apocalyptic America.
The main cast of The Last of Us
Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller

The American and Chilean actor, Pedro Pascal, portrays Joel Miller in the series. Joel Miller is a hardened middle-aged survivor who is haunted by the trauma of his past. Joel's mission is to smuggle Ellie, a little child, across the United States and out of a quarantine area. In the series, Joel is shown to be more physically weak than in the game; he has hearing loss in one ear and experiences knee pain when standing.
Pascal had a breakthrough as Oberyn Martell in the fourth season of the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones (2014), following over twenty years of performing supporting parts on theater and television. She enjoys puns, is playful but strong-willed, and bonds with kids effortlessly. She may hold the secret to developing a vaccine because she is immune to the Cordyceps infection.
