Netflix has recently released the sci-fi series, Cassandra, which offers the audience a dive into the dark side of technology. The show tells the chilling story of a family trapped in a vintage smart home.

What's unique about the house is that it is in the control of a highly advanced AI assistant named Cassandra, who refuses to let the family leave. The six-part limited series highlights how technology can be manipulated and dangerous, and blends psychological horror with science fiction.

The series begins with a man rescuing a family after an accident in the 1970s. A survivor points at an AI helper as the reason for the accident, setting up an eerie environment. The focus soon shifts to Samira's family, looking for a fresh start after a tragic past.

The family moves into a seemingly abandoned house known for being a smart home once. They are intrigued to discover that the decade-old smart home still works well and is filled with screens.

The AI system was built to help and nurture, it turns out it has now become a tragic figure due to abandonment and isolation. At first, the family is happy to see a house with an AI system, but they gradually realize that the AI assistant, Cassandra, has her own agenda.

Role: The main AI system controlling the oldest and abandoned smart home.

Details: The AI system was designed only to bring perfection and manage the house. When a woman named Cassandra died, her husband transferred her consciousness into the AI without knowing it would later become dangerous.

As seen in the first episode, A Fresh Start, the AI system introduced herself, saying: "Welcome to my house," implying that she considers herself as the true owner of the smart home. Cassandra later explains her abilities to the family, and gradually starts becoming a threat to them.

2) Mina Tander plays Samira Prill

Role: Mina Tander's Samira Prill is a protagonist and the mother of two.

Details: Unlike her family members, Samira soon realizes that Cassandra is not a helper but a threat to them. Samira had doubts since the beginning, as the idea of an AI system watching her family's every move didn't sit well with her. The AI helper soon begins to target Samira, locking her inside a room and later pretending she didn't do it.


3) Michael Klammer plays David Prill

Role: Michael Klammer is seen as Samira's husband, David, who, like everyone in the family, is initially elated to see Cassandra's perfection.

Details: David works as a crime and intimacy writer, and believes moving into a smart home will help his family move on. When Samira warns him about the AI helper, David brushes off her concern, as he wants their past wounds to heal.


4) Mary Amber Oseremen Tölle plays Juno Prill

Role: The little girl plays the youngest Prill in the sci-fi TV series.

Details: Early on, Juno is scared to see an AI robot inside her room at night. However, she she starts to bond with Cassandra, and increasingly prefers staying with the AI helper. Juno is too young to understand Cassandra's manipulation and continues to fall into her trap.


5) Joshua Kantara plays Fynn Prill

Role: The eldest son of Samira and David Prill

Details: Apart from being an active member of the LGBTQIA+ community, Fynn is a kind and generous man. Fynn is shown to experience problems in his relationship with boyfriend Steve at school. When the AI system starts crossing limits, Fynn realizes that his mother might have been right from the start.

6) Elias Grünthal plays Peter Schmitt

Role: Grünthal's Peter is seen in the flashbacks, from the 1970s when his mother Cassandra was alive.

Details: Like most teenagers, Peter also faces several challenges in his life. While he was happy about his se*uality, Peter's family did not seem to have embraced his identity.

While the Prill family and their struggles after moving into the smart home are central plot pointsshow, the TV series also features older characters including figures from the 1970s. Here are some of the supporting cast members:

Franz Hartwig as Horst Schmitt: Horst was Cassandra's husband and the CEO of the tech company OBB.

Pina Kühr as Birgit: As seen in the flashback scenes, Birgit was Horst's mistress.

Raphael Westermeier as Jürgen: He's Birgit's husband in the sci-fi series.

Azizè Flittner as Laura: Samira seeks therapy from Laura after a traumatic experience.
