Canada’s Drag Race is strutting back onto our screens for its fifth season on November 21, exclusively on WOW Presents Plus for the international audience. It raises the only question on anyone’s mind these days: Are you ready to slay, eh?

After an eventful 2024 that saw Venus snatch the crown in season 4 and Lemon becoming the Queen of the Mother-Puckin' World in Canada vs. the World, the Great White North is serving up another helping of fierce competition.

The incomparable Brooke Lynn Hytes returns to hold court alongside judges Brad Goreski and Traci Melchor, ready to critique, mentor, and occasionally throw shade at 11 new queens competing for the coveted title only on Canada’s Drag Race.

From government workers by day to drag superstars by night, and from coast to coast (with a predictable concentration in Toronto, because where else?), this season's cast brings together a delightfully diverse mix of experience, culture, and talent.

This season's cast reads like the setup to a particularly fabulous joke: What do you get when you put a government worker, a former reality TV star, an empress, and eight other fierce queens with distinct personas in one ‘werkroom’? We're about to find out.

From seasoned veterans with decades of experience to fresh faces ready to make their mark, season 5 of Canada’s Drag Race promises a mix as diverse as Canada itself.

Helena Poison (Toronto, 32)

A makeup artist who decided to stop making others look gorgeous and claim the spotlight herself. Skilled in prosthetics and special FX makeup, she's basically the person you want both at your Halloween party and your wedding.

Jaylene Tyme (Vancouver, 52)

With more than 30 years in drag and a title of Empress 35 of Vancouver, Jaylene is quite literally drag royalty. She can transform into everyone from Dolly to Cher, making her the one-queen tribute show we didn't know we needed.

Makayla Couture (Toronto, 22)

A proud representative of both the Trans and Black communities, Makayla got her first taste of Drag Race during season 2's makeover challenge. Talk about a glow-up—from a challenge participant to a competitor on Canada’s Drag Race!

Minhi Wang (Toronto, 39)

Possibly the busiest queen in Canada, Minhi juggles a government job, physiotherapy, volunteer work, and water polo. She's also a former Pit Crew member from season 1 of Canada’s Drag Race, proving you can indeed work your way up from the bottom... of the screen.

Perla (Toronto, 29)

A fashion industry veteran known for hair whips so fierce they probably generate renewable energy. Won the Absolut Empire's Ball 2022, which is like the Met Gala of Canadian drag, but with more personality.

Sanjina DaBish Queen (Toronto, 32)

The self-proclaimed Trans, Indo-Fijian, Bolly-hood queen of Toronto teaches at the City of Toronto's Drag Masterclass. Yes, that's a real thing, and yes, we're jealous we can't enroll.

Tara Nova (St. John's, 23)

Representing Newfoundland & Labrador with pride, this self-taught seamstress is ready to show that East Coast queens can make it work with more than just fishnets (though those are certainly helpful).

The Virgo Queen (Toronto, 26)

A former finalist on The Next Star who peaked at 14 but decided to reinvent herself through drag. Embraces her biracial and half-Indigenous heritage, serving looks that would make any zodiac sign jealous.

Tiffany Ann Co. (Vancouver, 32)

A first-generation Vietnamese immigrant who turns every performance into a Super Bowl halftime show, minus the controversial political statements and plus a lot more rhinestones.

Uma Gahd (Montreal, 36)

Performs up to 30 shows monthly and sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a show title that would make Judy Blume proud.

Xana (Vancouver, 26)

The self-styled drag mogul & CEO of Vancouver who's raised thousands for Canadian charities. When she's not performing, she's fighting for better pay and inclusive spaces, making her the Robin Hood of drag (but with better outfits).

Return of the bee theme

With this diverse cast of queens ready to serve looks, laughs, and probably some light drama, season 5 of Canada’s Drag Race promises to be an entertaining showcase of Canadian drag excellence. This season also marks the return of the infamous bee theme, ensuring that season 5 might just be the most buzz-worthy one from the franchise.

Tune in to WOW Presents Plus on November 21 to find out which of these 'Fly Girls' will be crowned the queen of the hive as each of them flaunts insect-inspired outfits at the drag stage. And remember—in Canadian drag, being "sorry" is not part of the vocabulary.

Canada’s Drag Race Season 5 airs on November 21, 2024, on WOW Presents Plus.
