Canada's Drag Race is back with another season, this time with so much more glitz and glamor. After successfully mesmerizing tons of fans across Canada and beyond, season 5 of the show will be airing on small screens on November 21, 2024, in Canada on Crave and internationally on Wow Presents Plus.
This show features a group of drag queens who compete in a series of challenges. The winner of the title "Canada's Next Drag Superstar" takes home a huge cash prize of $100,000.
Each episode of Canada's Drag Race throws a main challenge for the contestants. These challenges are usually around singing, dancing, fashion, fit, makeup, and comedy.
In addition, queens also design a themed outfit. Based on both of these challenges, a judges panel identifies the weakest performers of the episode to go against each other in a "lip sync for your life" challenge. The one who wins stays and the other one is sent back to her home empty-handed.
Canada's Drag Race Season 5 Trailer
The official trailer of Canada's Drag Race Season 5 went live on their official Instagram page on November 1, 2024. However, the announcement of this season was made way before. The trailer revealed that this season would be more "buzz-worthy" than ever, and it features 11 drag queens.
Also, the judges panel for this season would include Brooke Lynn Hytes, returning to the screen as the head judge; Brad Goreski, a fashion expert and TV personality; and Traci Melchor, a regular in the Canadian entertainment scene. Joining the trio, Shea Couleé, internationally renowned drag queen, musician, podcaster, and actor, would appear as a guest judge.
Another suspense was seen in the trailer,
"Typically, the judges determine the bottom three. But tonight you will."
Contestants call it "an insane twist."
The contestants will design a masterpiece for the goddess herself, the Queen of the North, Brooke Lynn Hytes.
A lot of drama, fights, contestants leaving midway, and a lot more is to be expected this season.
