The 'Legacy' of the Bosch franchise goes on, and it seems like fans are more than excited to have a key character getting her own spin-off show—yes, we are talking about Maggie Q's Renee Ballard. Close to this time last week, Prime Video dropped fresh updates with a 41-second-long teaser, and the audience response has been unexpectedly good ever since.
Considering the success of the OG show and its recent spin-off, Bosch: Legacy, in terms of viewership numbers and ratings, the bar is now even higher for Ballard. Positive fan reactions are already pouring in (like one of the users recently mentioned on Instagram: "Can't wait"), and it is a good early sign—something that should definitely manifest into a big hit.
Fans reactions to Ballard's first look brings good news as the Bosch universe goes on to grow further
Prime Video released the first look of Ballard last week (on April 18, 2025), and ever since, the unprecedented Bosch spin-off has been gaining quite some traction on social media. The comment section of the post shared on Prime Video's official Instagram page has been flooded with love and support from the viewers the moment the teaser dropped, and it just keeps getting better—not to mention, it seems like very good news so far!
One user on Instagram, alochoa14, commented on the first clip, saying:

"Can't wait to see it! I also loved Nikita."
Another user, tracebaldwin.re, expressed love for the show and the star playing the titular character:

We love Maggie Q."
It also shows how much popularity Maggie Q has gained over the years and the fact that she does justice to the role of Renée Ballard. A third user, realgracekalu, commented on the same post, mentioning

"I'm so watching this I have been craving to see Maggie Q again in a movie. oh yes!"
The reactions from fans make it evident that no one wanted the franchise to conclude with the third season of Bosch: Legacy. Now, with a popular face making her return to the small screens, excitement among the viewers is naturally skyrocketing.
Ballard will bring new mysteries this time, and a whole other story will unfold as the police procedural franchise gears up to feature Renee Ballard in a more impactful role. LAPD is struggling with the immense workload of the cold case department, and Renee is the one heading the unit now.
Showrunners hit just the perfect end note in Bosch: Legacy Season 3 finale with Ballard and Harry Bosch teaming up on a long-gone-cold serial killing case, 'Flowers Girl.' Though it was Ballard who was initially in charge, some old files from the department (copies of which Bosch had with him) came to the rescue.
With intricate investigation and solid teamwork, the killer is finally revealed. Now, as the show ended on a cold case getting cracked and characters completing their full arcs, it did initially leave the viewers questioning the franchise's future.
But with Ballard on the way, we can definitely expect to see Renee getting back with retired officer Harry Bosch and working on another never-ending series of cold cases. However, it just might be the starting point of a big conspiracy getting unfurled, and Ballard needs to find the right way out of it.
