Shark Tank mentor Kevin O'Leary shared a clip via his Instagram on January 28, 2025, revealing the "future of real estate." While sharing his views on real estate, O'Leary also mentioned how he has been "laser-focused" on data centers.
He discussed the demand for infrastructure and how building data centers is not easy. Shark Tank investor also opened up about the four essential pillars required to build the data centers and how it is where the "future of real-estate" is heading.
While sharing more about "The future of real estate," Kevin O'Leary said:
"You have to understand something about real estate development. You can't be generalist. You have to specialize in something. Because there's such a broad market, real estate is the largest part of our portfolio. Our normal rule...our normal mandate is to have no sector more than 20% with the exception of real estate, where we go to over 33%."

Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary revealed how real estate is the "largest" part of the portfolio. He mentioned the normal rule that no sector should be "more than 20%." However, there is one exception, which is real estate, which expands by 33%.
While discussing the areas of advancement, O'Leary revealed his keen interest.
"So, I'm always looking for areas that we have an advantage in, and I'll tell you what interests me the most right now. Data centers. Because you've just had an announcement in the last 48 hours from the rulers here (mentioning: Saudi Arabia on the world map) that a $100 billion is going in AI."
He further mentioned that while such announcements are made, they need specific "infrastructure." That's when data centers come in.
Revealing the four prime essentials, Shark Tank mentor stated:
"In order to have that kind of investment, you need infrastructure. And what are those? They're data centers. What do you need to build data centers? Very specialized. You need the engineering talent; number two, you need the permits. Number three, you need the fiber. And above all, and what matters the most is you need the power."
In the latter part of the video clip, Kevin O'Leary shared about his team. He mentioned that his team was among the 25 worldwide that had "done it." He added that he has been looking "very closely" at the data centers and latest AI developments for a "huge competitive advantage."
Shark Tank's mentor concluded the clip by mentioning that he would keep his eyes on the countries that make such a "big announcement" in AI and that his team would go "knocking" on the door.
