Annie Potts remained an integral part of Young Sheldon across all seven seasons, playing the lead’s adorable grandmother, Constance "Connie" Tucker, aka Meemaw. The actress’ heartwarming portrayal was loved by the fans.

Meanwhile, she also saw child actors like Iain Armitage and Raegan Revord grow up in front of her eyes as the CBS sitcom was on-air from 2017 to 2024. After the first season’s conclusion in 2018, Annie Potts had an interview with Variety, where she revealed she was having a great time on the set as the child actors were so affectionate towards her:

“I can’t remember if I’ve ever been on a set before where I was told so many times in one day how much someone loved me. I can’t even believe they pay me for this!”

Annie Potts once talked about how she sees Young Sheldon child actors as her grandchildren

In her interview, Annie Potts said she does not have grandchildren in real life, but the Young Sheldon child actors, including Iain Armitage who played Sheldon, Raegan Revord who played Missy, and Montana Jordan, who played Georgie Cooper Jr, have become her family. She stated:

“I don’t have grandchildren myself but I have these fake grandchildren now. I love them and I enjoy them.”

The actress added that apart from having fun, she also tries to teach the children how to become good professionals:

“They’re very malleable right now, so it’s part of our responsibility to make it fun and also model excellent professional behavior — showing up, hitting your mark, saying thank you.”

When the show started, Ian and Raegan were both nine years old, while Montana was 14 years old. Talking about the children, Annie said:

“All three of those children are very naturally sweet.”

At the time, she also revealed how she and Ian became neighbors ahead of the shoot as they co-incidentally rented their houses close to each other:

“As fate would have it when I started working on the show I was renting a house not far from where Iain and his mother were renting a house, so we were sort of neighbors and we started seeing a lot of each other off-set — playing together and taking walks together.”
“We became friends, and of course, it’s absolutely essential with a little one to have their absolute trust. Because then they’ll play with you.”

Annie Potts’ journey on Young Sheldon

Annie Potts starred in all seven seasons of Young Sheldon as Meemaw. The character became a fan-favorite as she kept faith in Sheldon when nobody else understood him. She lovingly called him Moonpie and remained patient with him while others found it difficult to interact with him due to his brilliant mind.

Meemaw also became famous for her sarcastic humor and for continuously taking shots at George Cooper Sr., her son-in-law. Apart from Young Sheldon, Annie has also appeared in several other shows and films.

The actress has been a part of the entertainment industry since the 1970s and has been seen in the shows Designing Women, Love & War, Over the Top, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Any Day Now. Her movie credits include the Ghostbusters franchise, King of the Gypsies, and The Man Who Fell to Earth.
