"Can't believe this is happening" - Southern Charm star Craig Conover talks about his breakup from Paige DeSorbo

Southern Charm star Craig Conover and Paige DeSorbo have officially split and the most recent episode confirmed the backstory. It has been rumored for a while now that the two have parted ways but they were still together when the series was being filmed and thus, we would occasionally see snippets of them being a couple.

One time Paige decided to appear on a video call to talk sense into Shep about his then-girlfriend Sienna who would not make any effort towards him.

In the most recent Southern Charm episode 15, at the end of the season finale, viewers got an update about their relationship. This was five months after filming or the main season had concluded. News articles about their breakup take up the entire screen as Paige's voice echoes over the screen saying,

"Craig and I have decided to no longer be together. I am a different person than when I started dating him," she had said.

As for Craig, he mentioned,

"Paige and I have had a great Thanksgiving together. Like everything was normal at her parents', our chemistry and like everything. Then couple of weeks later she called me and was like, 'We got to talk.' And I knew. I was like, 'I can't believe this is happening.' And she was really calm and said, 'I need to find myself and I have to take control of my life again and we need to break up.'"

Craig said that he was too afraid to go public with the information because then it would all become too real and thus did not delay anything and let her do the thing.

He revealed going ring shopping in New York before last summer because she wanted one as it had been a long time in their relationship, almost three years, that they had called it quits now.

Craig said that Paige then decided to hold off on the entire ring thing and he feels that was the point when she started to panic in the relationship with him and pull away her feelings.

The two even talked about their future and kids and he had agreed to move to New York City where they could raise their children. However, Paige felt like Craig was going to resent her forever for doing so. Talking about the same on Southern Charm, he said,

"I feel like it is so hard for love to come around. We were best friends, we had a great s*x life, we checked like so many boxes like where am I gonna find that? ... it's like 'How are we giving this up? It's like weird to mourn someone that is still alive"

Austen and Shep, who were sitting and consoling Craig about the whole deal, said that there already were "cracks" in the relationship but those were not enough for him to break up with Paige over. As for Shep, who has recently broken up from his relationship with Sienna, said,

"I just feel bad for the guy 'cause it doesn't sound like he was driving this bus."

There is still much under wraps about the entire breakup thing such as whether there was a "new guy" in Paige's life that she left Craig for. It is because a short clip of Andy Cohen hosting the Southern Charm reunion claims the same but does not provide any solid answers.

In another segment on Southern Charm, he was seen talking about all of his stuff that "showed up" on his porch one day. There are still pieces missing from the story and viewers can do nothing but wait for the reunion to air.
