Álvaro Morte is not keen on reprising his Money Heist role in Berlin

Since Netflix's Berlin premiered in late 2023, fans have been eager to know whether Morte's The Professor will appear in the show. While the prequel is set before the events of Money Heist, fans were expecting to see The Professor in the spin-off show because he was Berlin's half-brother. However, he did not make an appearance in Season 1.

Morte's interview with GamesRadar hints that he is not keen on reprising his character for any spin-offs:

"I don't think that I will be part of Berlin. I mean, I love them, but in a way I want to kind of protect The Professor, it’s a character that gave me so many beautiful things, a character that I love so much, and I wouldn’t like to make just a cameo...I'm very happy with the ending of Money Heist and with the ending of my character in that project."

Money Heist Season 5 finale gave his character a complete arc, where he successfully pulled off the last heist and was successful in his escape plan for Raquel. Since his character was given a satisfying ending, it is understandable if Morte is not keen on doing cameos in any spin-off.

However, he expressed that he would be open to reprising his role for a Money Heist reboot if it happens 10 years down the line:

"If, maybe in the future, they are coming with the whole band again, like the return of Money Heist within 10 years or something because of something that they create, that would be awesome,"

Considering Morte's remarks, fans should not await Professor's cameo in Berlin Season 2.

Berlin is set before the events of Money Heist

The spin-off series serves as a prequel to the show, centered around the titular character's life before Money Heist. In one of the interviews, creator Álex Pina confirmed that the spin-off was set in 2013, making it four years before Money Heist, which was set in 2017.

Since the titular character of the spin-off does not meet the gang until 2017, when they plan to pull one of the most dangerous heists ever, the possibility of other Money Heist characters making a cameo is thin.

In Season 1, Itziar Ituño's Raquel and Najwa Nimri's Alicia Sierra reprised their characters from Money Heist for a cameo. But we should not expect any more characters in the further seasons, as they entered Berlin's life in 2017.
