Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis got engaged in a bet depending on the success of the film they both worked on —The Whole Nine Yards (2000). In the film, Matthew Perry stars as Nicholas "Oz" Oseransky, a nervous, debt-ridden dentist living in Canada. While Bruce Willis plays Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski, a notorious contract killer who moves in next door. The film portrays the uptight dentist and the laid-back hitman becoming entangled in each other’s dangerous lives, with a mix of mobsters, mistaken identities, and double-crosses.

Perry was confident about the film's success, but Bruce was not. The film further became America's most-watched film, making $ 106 million at the box office within the first three weeks. Thanks to the success of this film that we got to watch the veteran actor in the show.


According to reports, Willis's performance as Paul Stevens was well-received, earning him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. Notably, he donated his earnings from the role to various charitable organisations, including the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
