The pilot episode of Breaking Bad was also one of the most important ones in the acclaimed series. In the episode, the viewers see Cranston’s Walter White recording a video message. No one knows who he is recording the message for and why.

This scene sets the plot and gives the viewers a glimpse of Walter White's tragic journey ahead and the consequences that he is going to deal with.

Walt utters this dialogue in Season 5, episode 14 of Breaking Bad. In one of the most tense scenes of the show, the White family gets into a fight.

After Hank dies, Walt comes back to take his family with him to run away. However, Skyler and Walt Jr. refuse. Skyler blames Walt for killing Hank and gets into a brutal fight. Walt Jr. breaks the fight between his parents. That’s when Walt says these words, and the silence that follows right after gives viewers and Walt the realization that he might have lost his family forever.

In the same episode, Walt takes Holly with him. As Skyler and Walt Jr. call the police, Walt, in just 1 phone call, absolves Skyler from all of his criminal activities and takes the blame on himself.

In the threatening phone call, he paints Skylar as an abuse victim who tried to stop her husband from committing all those crimes but failed. To help clear her name of any involvement in his drug business, Walt showed how much he cared about his family.

In Episode 15 of Season 6, Walt and Walt Jr. share their last scene. In their last conversation on the phone, Walter tells his son that he has sent money for him and his mother. He also confesses that he wanted to do more but this is all he could do at the end.

The conversation is emotional as Walt breaks down while his son still blames him for killing his uncle Hank.

In the last scene of Walter and Skyler in Season 5, Walt finally admits that whatever he has done, it was all for himself. The delusion that he was doing this for his family finally subsides, and he can admit it to her.
