Episode 10 of The Challenge All Stars: Rivals, titled, 'This is Why We're Rivals,' delivered one of the most intense showdowns of the season. Released on April 2, 2025, the episode captured the boiling tensions between Shane Landrum and Da’Vonne Rogers as their already rocky partnership reached a breaking point.

With only five pairs left and four spots in the final, the pressure was at an all-time high as competitors fought for the $300,000 prize. The show's Rivals format—designed to force former adversaries to work together—proved to be a true test when Shane, in a fit of frustration, threatened to quit entirely. If he followed through, Da’Vonne would be eliminated right alongside him.

The conflict erupted during the daily challenge when Shane lashed out at Da’Vonne, leading her to break down in tears. The drama escalated when she confided in another rival in an attempt to get support. Da'Vonne wasn't prepared to let it go that simply, even after Shane eventually returned with an emotional apology:

“I don’t know how much longer I can bite my tongue with you,” she finally told him, summing up the emotional toll of their strained alliance.

The incident served as a perfect example of why The Challenge's Rivals format continues to deliver some of the most compelling moments in its history.

The Challenge’s Da’Vonne and Shane clash during the latest episode

The episode's "Pressure Sandwich" challenge required teams to transport puzzle pieces through a forest without dropping them. While Frank and Sam completed the task flawlessly, securing their safety, other partnerships crumbled under pressure in this episode of The Challenge.

Shane's frustration visibly mounted throughout the challenge and his harsh words towards Da'Vonne prompted fellow competitor Adam to intervene:

"Talk to people with kindness! A little bit of human decency!," Adam shouted at Shane, defending Da'Vonne as she wiped away tears.

Shane claimed he was to be physically exhausted and "fuming," setting the stage for a confrontation that would threaten their entire game.

The situation escalated dramatically when Da'Vonne confided in Frank about her partner. She suggested Shane purposely tried to portray himself as "a villain" on television and thought it was "a cool thing." Unfortunately for Da'Vonne, Shane overheard this conversation and immediately confronted her:

"If you wanna go home, we can go home too," Shane snapped before walking away from the group.

In a raw confessional moment, Da'Vonne revealed the challenging nature of their partnership:

"Working with Shane is very difficult, but I just have to shut up because in this moment, if I crack, we are ruined. Baby, ain't no final, okay?"

Shane's frustration reached its peak in a private confessional where he expressed feeling mischaracterized by Da'Vonne.

"I don't know what else to do and I don't wanna leave because I wanna win money but to sit here and have her actively f**king destroying who I am as a person is devastating," he admitted to producers.

He accused Da'Vonne of creating a false narrative about his character and declared he was "ready to go" rather than help her win prize money.

The threat wasn't just empty posturing. Under this season's rule of The Challenge, if Shane quit, Da'Vonne would automatically be eliminated as well—losing her chance at the substantial prize money despite all her efforts throughout the season.

The emotional resolution and aftermath

After cooling down, Shane approached Da'Vonne with a tearful apology. This vulnerable moment revealed the complex dynamics at play in their relationship.

Instead of losing her temper, Da'Vonne responded calmly but firmly to Shane's heartfelt apology. She encouraged him to consider why he snaps at those who are attempting to assist him rather than ignoring his outburst. She handled the situation gracefully despite the pain he inflicted, displaying a level of emotional intelligence amidst the competition's pandemonium.

This conversation marked a turning point. Despite not resolving all their interpersonal problems, the two managed to establish enough common ground for Shane to change his threat to leave the game.

The conflict between Shane and Da'Vonne highlighted the particular difficulty of the Rivals format: to succeed, competitors must cooperate with those they disagree with.

Meanwhile, other drama unfolded in the background. Nany and Turbo, having lost their star in the previous episode, actively campaigned to be sent into elimination for a chance to win it back.

Turbo didn’t mince words about the game’s cutthroat nature, offering a blunt take on the betrayals unfolding around him. Meanwhile, the house had a tough decision to make, ultimately voting Nany and Turbo into elimination against Adam and Steve. Despite their best efforts, Nany and Turbo fell short, making them the ninth pair to exit the competition. With only four teams left, the battle for the final was officially underway.

Shane and Da'Vonne survived not only the elimination vote but also their internal conflict. Their reconciliation showed that sometimes the biggest challenge isn't the competition itself but learning to work with your rival.

As this season of The Challenge approaches its finale, the question remains whether their fragile truce will hold through the pressure of the final challenge or if Da'Vonne will finally stop biting her tongue.

The Challenge airs Wednesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET on MTV.
