Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone might be over with the Season 5 finale, but the cowboy saga is far from over.

After Kevin Costner's exit ahead from Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2, a potential Season 6 was out of the picture, so Sheridan planned a spin-off with Kelly Reily's Beth and Cole Huaser's Rip that would continue the show's legacy.

While Season 5 Part 2 teased a potential Beth-Rip spin-off in Texas, where the fans were given a glimpse of what the couple's idyllic life would look like, it was ruled out in the Season 5 finale with Beth buying a ranch in Dillon, Montana to live with her husband Rip and their adopted son Carter.

While the ending ruled out their possibility of living in Texas, they did get the idyllic life they had envisioned, in Montana.

More on why Beth-Rip's Yellowstone spin-off in Texas was likely ruled out, in our story.

Beth and Rip imagined their future in Texas in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2

While Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 opened with John Dutton's death, the majority of the episodes in Part 2 focused on the cowboys and Beth and Rip's life during Parts 1 and 2 through flashbacks. These flashbacks were essential in showing what could have been with Beth and Rip as they imagined their life in Texas. The flashbacks detailed how Beth traveled to Texas to meet and spend time with her husband, Rip, spending nights with him at a suite in Amarillo.

While the audiences were sure that this is what the future holds for the couple- a life on the Texas ranch, away and in isolation, this is not what the couple was given in the end, and Sheridan ruled out the Texas plotline entirely for the couple.

Life in Texas is something that the couple has wanted for themselves for a very long time, but they cannot pursue it because of their loyalty towards John and the ranch. Instead, Beth buys a ranch for them in Dillon, Montana, where they would still live their idyllic life with 600 cattle and away from tourists, but one wonders why not Texas.

Why did Sheridan not set Beth-Rip's Yellowstone spin-off in Texas? What do fans think?

Since Yellowstone's 6666 spin-off is set in Texas, it would not have made sense to set another spin-off in the same location.

Fans have expressed varying opinions about the location of the potential spin-off. While some fans were hoping that the couple should move to Texas, Sheridan chose a different path and location for the couple in Dillon, Montana.

A contrary but equally popular sentiment amongst fans has been the love for the mountain scenery in Montana. As Reddit user, u/WildRugosa said,

''I know there used to be talk of a Texas spinoff but I hope if there is a Beth/ Rip spinoff it stays in Montana. That mountain scenery is a big part of it for me.''

Sheridan did tease fans about a potential Texas spin-off in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 but the finale suggests that Montana will be the home for Beth-Rip.

Despite changing the location, Sheridan has ensured that the couple gets to live their cowboy lifestyle, which is why as per the couple's desire to settle in isolation, Sheridan gave them a ranch in an isolated part of Big Sky Country in the finale.

It seems likely, given fan sentiments and the hints in the finale that the couple will not have a spin-off in Texas. However, it will be interesting to see what is in store for Beth-Rip as they start afresh in Montana.
