Tammy from 1000-Lb Sisters might be dating again, and fans are curious about this new connection. This update comes more than a year after her husband, Caleb Willingham, had died. It was in 2023 that he passed on while in rehab due to his health issues as a morbidly obese person.
Tammy, along with her sibling Amy, starred on 1000-Lb Sisters from 2020 when they were around 600 and 400 pounds, respectively. Since then, the two sisters have lost a significant amount of weight and have gone through different ups and downs.
It was more of a struggle for Tammy, who was dealing with mental health issues such as food addiction for a long time, and was sent to rehab to deal with the same.
However, now that she has shed over 500 pounds and is single, Tammy might be linked to someone new. In a teaser before the release of the seventh season of 1000-Lb Sisters, she shared,
"I have been seeing someone for the past couple of months, and it's going pretty well. The person I'm dating is a woman."
1000-Lb Sisters star Tammy Slaton reveals a new relationship
Tammy announced that she is dating someone of the same gender. Talking about the same, she feels that there might be some judgment about it from her family members. As a solution to that, Tammy said,
"So I haven't told my family because my family's gonna have something to say about it. I think my family probably has more opinions than the world has a--holes because they be farting so much. I don't know how my family's gonna react when I tell them I'm seeing a woman."
This is not the first time that Tammy's inclination or dating preferences have been talked about on the show. Previously on 1000-Lb Sisters, she had revealed wanting to date anybody despite of their gender identity. She established herself as pansexual.
However, her husband's passing in 2023 was a huge shock to her. It was reported that the couple were having troubles in their marriage at the time of his death, and they were separated. This was revealed in a TikTok video that she had since deleted.
In 2024, she updated fans about her love life on social media and said,
"I was saying I was pansexual, but I kinda stopped messing with guys after my husband passed. So, I'm like a lesbian. Love is love. Everybody deserves love, whether they're gay, straight, trans, pan, bi, nonbinary, whatever. I'm just a lover."
Fans supported her statement and were naturally curious about her preferences, and asked questions in the comments. Replying to the same, Tammy clarified that she was "not trans" but supports everyone and every identity.
Tammy and Caleb had met in rehab as they both were battling their food addiction. It was a turning moment for each of them as they soon got engaged within three weeks of dating. The couple tied the knot in 2022.
However, disaster struck when Caleb, who was 40 at the time, passed on during his time in the facility. This was devastating for her, Tammy, who, even though she was separated from him at the time, expressed her sadness.
1000-Lb Sisters Season 7 airs new episodes every week on Tuesdays at 9 PM Eastern Time on TLC. Later, the episodes can be streamed online via TLC Go.
