The real-life husband and wife duo of Emilio Rivera and Yadi Valerio star together as the on-screen couple Alejandro and Consuela Zuniga in The Family Business. The BET series revolves around the Duncans, a family who owns a seemingly normal car dealership but is actually connected to the underworld.
Alejandro and his wife, Consuela, are archenemies of the Duncans who do not shy away from bloodshed. In 2018, Emilio Rivera and Yadi Valerio appeared together in an interview with Power 106 Los Angeles and talked about their characters in The Family Business.
Opening up about a particular sequence where the Zunigas' son was killed by the Duncans’ daughter, Emilio highlighted how Yadi, as Consuela, motivated Alejandro to seek revenge for their son’s death:
“She tells me, ‘You know what on it's time to go get revenge.’ But I don't know what's happening for real right, but she goes, ‘We know who did it be the man who I married. Now go, kill these people.’ But I'm a smart man that's why I'm a businessman I got way stuff out here.”

Talking about how Alejandro makes calculated choices, but Consuela is not afraid to be violent, Emilio Rivera said in his interview:
“She's ready to go you ready to kill she wants blood.”
Yadi also opened up about how she got the inspiration to play a deadly character like Consuela and said:
“When you play a character like that yachty as an actor you have your little bag of tricks some things you've been [through] in life.”
Yadi then joked about how her cultural clash with Emilio’s family after her wedding parallels the theme of The Family Business:
“I'm from New York we're five daughters and my little brother well my father was in real estate very like low-key strict parents when I got with my husband I mean it was a culture clash I mean I'm tough from New York in different ways.”

Alejandro and Consuela Zuniga are two antagonists in The Family Business who are always causing trouble for the Duncan family. Alejandro leads the Zuniga cartel and will do anything to grow his power, using both violence and strategic plans.
He also tries to make peace with the Duncans through his son, but his actual plans suggest otherwise. His wife, Consuela, is called La Madrina, which means the Godmother.
Consuela is fiery, smart, and deadly which makes her an iconic villain. Alejandro and Consuela make a powerful and ruthless team together, which always keeps the Duncan family on edge.
