Below Deck Down Under premiered the new season on February 3, 2025, on Bravo, and the crew has finally got a Sous-Chef to assist Chief Chef Tzarina. However, as the premiere revealed, the dynamics between them might not go as smoothly as Tzarina might be expecting.

Episode 1 of the spin-off series opened with Captain Jason Chambers introducing the new crew, who will join the old crew members Tzarina and Harry on Katina's journey in the Seychelles. The Sous-Chef, Anthony Bird, is one of the new additions to the yacht's crew, and he might have ego clashes with his superior, Tzarina, as he has come with zero weaknesses.

Tzarina and Anthony tried to break the ice and work together on their first charter which was full of problems, drama, and weevils infestation. As if weevils were not enough, Tzarina had to address the "red flag" Sous-Chef's urge to do more.

After the release of the first episode, the fans of Below Deck Down Under Season 3 reacted to the new Sous-Chef's behavior. Some of them called him "arrogant" while a few noted that Chief Chef Tzarina could still try and utilize his potential as they need to work together. One person took to X and commented:

"#BELOWDECK: i could see how the sous chef would think he was being micromanaged with the crew food but T said she was thinking of adding whatever he made to the menu before he got an attitude. he’s way too defensive. He has an attitude problem. don’t like it. #BELOWDECKDOWNUNDER."
"Oy, this Sous Chef is already giving Tzarina a hard time over questions, and he just got there. #BelowDeckDownUnder," commented another fan.
"When the chef said something about washing dishes the sous chef looked like he wanted to throw her overboard. #BelowDeckDownUnder," wrote another person.

However, a few Below Deck Down Under fans were divided over Tzarina's reaction towards the Sous-Chef Anthony Bird. A fan wrote:

"I love Tzarina, but she's wrong. Sous chef is a CHEF! There's no reason to have him only doing dishes - you're literally wasting him at that point! But also eggs are soo simple and relatively quick (maybe not the benny, but the rest)... #BelowDeckDownUnder #belowdeck."
"Hmmm i’m a bit torn with the chef situation. i do think anthony could be used to do crew meals and prep but he does come off strong and crosses the line a bit. #BelowDeckDownUnder," commented another fan.
"As c**ky as this sous chef is Tzarina should have used him more. #BelowDeckDownUnder," wrote another person.

Tzarina and Sous-Chef tackle the problem of weevils before their first charter in Below Deck Down Under Season 3

Before the crew could start their first charter of Season 3, Below Deck Down Under, the kitchen was infested with weevils and maggots. While inspecting the pantry, Tzarina mentioned to Sous-Chef Anthony that the pantry had weevils and maggots all over the place. Both tried to look into all the stuff before they raised the issue to Captain Jason Chambers.

As it turned out, they had to clear out all the grains and dry stuff, leaving a half bottle of vodka, which Tzarina put in the fridge to handle the infestation. Despite the thorough inspection and cleaning, Below Deck Down Under Captain was shocked to see weevils and maggots all over the place.

In an exclusive interview with US Weekly, Captain Jason Chambers opened up about the situation. He remarked:

“We had to lean out the galley and get it ready for the provisions that are coming in the next day. We had to get ready for the guests two days later to find that and to be 12 hours behind in preparation was just not the start we wanted."

Below Deck Down Under Season 3 premiered on Bravo on Monday, February 3, 2025.
