Shark Tank investor Barbara Corcoran shared her secret while hiring a person for a job. She claimed to have hired over a thousand people, and this has made her experienced in finding the right person. Barbara often shares about her personal life, businesses, and motivational videos on her Instagram, and this time, it is a hiring tip.

Barbara says that if an individual has the right attitude towards the job, they can be taught anything and thus, should be hired. A job should depend upon the mindset of a person and not just their resume.

Explaining in the caption of the post, Barbara says that she never looks at the resume of a person because it "gets in the way of sizing up the person."

Talking about the same, Barbara says,

"I've hired thousands of people over the years and this is the number one thing I've learned. Always, always hire attitude over experience."

Barbara says that hiring someone should solely depend on their attitude and how eager someone is to learn. It is because a person with the right attitude will have the capacity to adapt and learn and can be taught anything.

However, people get stuck in resumes and past experiences, which, according to Barbara, should not be a criterion for hiring. Even fans in the comment section agreed with her views and said that understanding the difference between "aptitude and experience" is crucial for a business.

Continuing her thought, Barbara said,

"You have someone with the right attitude, you can teach them anything. Forget about the resume. Think about their attitude and their willingness to learn. That's what I've learned."

Barbara emphasizes the importance of looking for candidates who are willing to work hard and have a positive attitude, as these qualities are often more valuable than specific skills or experience. By focusing on attitude and potential, businesses can build a strong team that is adaptable and motivated to succeed.

Barbara Corcoran talks about seeing the "upside" to any negative situation

Shark Tank investor Barbara has been in the business world for a long time and is 75 years old right now. In one of her previous videos, she had revealed her experience and even said that "aging sucks" for her. In this video, she explained about her past and how failure altered her life completely.

Barbara talked about her boyfriend, whom she had met at a diner. This was the person who had given her the initial investment of $1000 to start her own business. As her journey progressed, the two became business partners.

However, things took an odd turn when the guy married her secretary. Barbara said that for her, it turned out to be a really "hard hit." She said that it took time for her to recover from that, but it was tough.

The host then asks her about the lesson that she took away from that whole experience now that she can sit and look back at it. To this, Shark Tank investor Barbara replied by saying that we can always see an "upside" to a situation when we look back, which is not visible to us while we are in that moment.

To her, it feels like if her boyfriend had not married her secretary, that would mean that she would have never started the business, which would have never led her to the success that she has right now. She says that there is always something positive to a situation, and we just have to see it.

Shark Tank investor Barbara explained that she had a lot of "belly flops" during her long-lasting career. However, what helped her during those times was to flip these situations around and see the bright side of it all.

This has been her long-term strategy. Barbara is an investor on Shark Tank right now and runs The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City.
