'Tis the season to revisit Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina with a hot cup of chocolate and a cozy blanket.
The spin-off to another popular show, Riverdale, premiered in October 2018 for Netflix and is based on the Archie Comics character Sabrina Spellman.
The story is set in Greendale and recounts the chilling coming-of-age story of Sabrina, a half-witch, half-mortal who must fight evil forces and protect her friends and family.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Ross Lynch, Lucy Davis, Miranda Otto, Chance Perdomo, and Michelle Gomez.
Kiernan Shipka plays the titular role of Sabrina Spellman. Mckenna Grace also joined the show as young Sabrina, often shown in flashbacks.
The wonderful casting done by the team on Shipka and Mckenna often leaves the fans wondering if the two actresses are related. While Mckenna was the perfect casting choice to play a young Shipka, the two actresses are not related in real life, apart from playing the same character in the Netflix show.

Kiernan Shipka suggested Mckenna Grace's name to play her younger version on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
It looks like fans are not the only ones flipping over the uncanny resemblance of the two actresses. Shipka herself suggested Grace's name to play her younger version to creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa because of their similarities.
When it was revealed that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina would be casting an actress to play a young Sabrina as the show wanted to show flashbacks of the character's childhood, Shipka contacted the creator to cast the Haunting of Hill House star.
In an interview with The Wrap, Roberto recalled how Shipka suggested Mckenna's name to play the character,
“When Kiernan heard we were doing Li’l Sabrina, she texted me a picture of her with McKenna and said, ‘You have to get Mckenna. She’s like me as a little girl and we’re dead ringers,’”
He added,
“And then we reached out [to Mckenna] and said, ‘Do you want to be Li’l Sabrina for the Christmas special?’ And she said yeah. And it was as easy as that! It came from Kiernan though.”
In what episode did Mckenna Grace played a young Sabrina in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina?
Grace played Shipka's younger version on a special Holiday Episode of Season 1 that aired on December 14, 2018. The episode, Midwinter's Tale, focused on a young Sabrina when she was a precocious tot.
The official logline of the episode reads as follows-
"During our holiday special, we’ll get to see what Sabrina was like as a precocious tot. And while The Church of Night celebrates the Solstice, that doesn’t stop Li’l Sabrina from asking Santa for something special."
Playing younger versions of characters is kind of a thing for the actress as she has portrayed many such roles. She played a young Theo in Netflix's The Haunting of Hill House. She also played a young Margot Robbie as Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.
In 2019, she played a younger version of Brie Larson's Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel.
